Leer Truck Caps - Pricing in Canada vs US
I've been looking at the Leer 100XQ caps. Our local dealer wants $2900 + tax (12%) for the 100XQ to fit an 09 Crew Cab Ram here in BC. I'm looking online and it seems that in the US people are paying way under $2000 ($1500-1600 seems to be what I'm seeing) for the same thing.
Just wondering if anyone knows if this kind of pricing is available in Canada or if the only chance we have at it is to head south of the border.
And out of curiosity, what did you pay for your Leer cap and where are you located?
Thanks!

I ordered the Jason Cyber cap for $1300. It is the top of the line cap from Jason. It was an extra $50 for the painted tailgate cover. I live in Indiana and the Jason factory is also in Indiana. http://www.jasoncaps.com/php/product.picture.php?id=12
One other thing...most all the caps and covers are made in Elkhart, Indiana. I think all the manufacturers have factories there. I would guess the farther away you are, the higher the price. Delivery costs have to be high on these. Still waiting on mine to be delivered.
I'd suggest not buying a Leer at all. The one I have on my dakota is the LAST LEER I'll ever buy (new or used). Leer USED to mean quality. I had mine back at the dealer 4 times in a year because the rear window wouldnt latch correctly (rotary latches would only stick on the semi open position and had a huge gap on one side). They couldnt fix it and basically said "Oh well". Now the t handle lock is frozen and both rotary latches are corroded. Replacement costs alone are $160 for these 3 parts from a different Leer dealer (BTW Leer will NOT sell directly to customers nor will even talk to you about a problem directly) Not to mention the plastic skirt on the rear glass is cracked. Or how the rubber strips on the side window keep coming loose (doublesided tape). Poorly built and very overpriced tops. Leer shouldnt be charging over $400 for a top. Thats about how much they are worth.
I knew I should had gone with the ARE or Jason top I was looking at originally. I liked the idea of just shutting the rear window without turning the t-handle and thats why I got the Leer.

advice... what ever topper you buy, don't buy one with pop rivets on the glass door, I bought a apex range ridder suv style topper, used for a great price.
over time the pop rivets would not hold the gas struts attatched to the one peace alum frame ( glass door, GLUED TO THE FRAME ) i would drill out the old rivetss and add new ones, well one day along came a big gust of wind and bang 750.00 for a glass door..
