reset the light. the procedure for resetting it is in your owner's manual.

My light came on at 2600 miles and I changed it. It came on again at 5600. I haven't towed anything and have mixed city and highway driving. Is it possible they have faulty sensors?

According to another thread or two about this subject, the light comes on with a certain amount of load on the engine along with other factors.Unless you do a lot of towing, the owners manual recommends every 6,000 miles you should change your oil..........Kevin.

Mine came on one time at 2500 miles. It was mostly city driving of short trips nature. If you do a lot of city driving or hauling, changing dino oil every 3K is not a bad idea imo.

This is a question right? LOL

But good point to bring up.....
Always be SURE if you are having a service provider do the oil changes that they are using 5W-20 ONLY. THIS MEANS CONFIRM THIS...DONT JUST ASSUME BY THEIR WORD.

Mine's been kind of stupid. Changed before 3k.... came on around 6k.... then back on around 8k. The light is starting to annoy me. I'm thinking it's something to keep an eye on. I'm gonna keep track of mileage between etc and just figure it out for myself.

My light came on at 2500 while I was out of town on a road trip... I changed it at 2800 and the oil that came out was pretty dark and looked and smelled "old"... I'm guessing they use some sort of break-in oil from the factory...

I used Castrol 5w20 for this change just in case that light comes back on at 5 or 6k... Switching to a synthetic at the next change though...

Has it been confirmed that the indicator is on as a result of some sort of oil life sensor, rather than just at a specific mileage?
