I just had the light come on for me in a 2010 SLT 5.7 at 2500 mi (4000 km)... There's a lot of debate on what the frequency for oil changes the computer thinks you should do... some have reported the light at 2500 then again at 5k...

IMO, I think the first change should be done when you get your first message, then routinely based on your beliefs (every 3k or 5k or whatever)....

Default first oil change 2009 Hemi Ram

Mine came on at 2532 miles. I had a hell of a time getting the filter off - it was really tight. You may want to get the first change done by a shop or the dealer. I punctured the oil filter with the removal tool and for a while I thought I would have to have it towed to the dealer. I was very unhappy so I persisted and finally got it off. I don't know if this is normal for the rest of the changes but for the first time, I was glad it finally came on as I did not want to keep running the "break in oil" longer than needed.

Mine was on pretty tight too... my filter wrench for my old Chevy fit the filter perfect... I put a 1/2 ratchet to it along with a 1" or so extension and, with a little encouragement, it broke loose.... The filter is in an awkward place with all the suspension components there....

The oil change indicator comes on based on how the vehicle was driven and the operating temperature. I work at a dodge dealership and the factory installed filters are always a major PITA.

Also: to reset the light turn the key to the on position (acc mode, vehicle not on) and press the gas pedal three times to the floor, turn the key off and then back on (vehicle on)

may take a few times to work

Ditto on all. I changed my "break in" oil at 1000, also had to literally pry my filter off with every ounce of strength I had. The EVIC message still appeared around 2500, I just reset it. I will continue to change about every 4000k.
