Default REN upgrade to RER Help!!

I brought a 2010 1500 laramie and it came with the REN radio and the dealer sold me a upgrade to the RER nav unit and rear view camera for the same price as factory installed. So the new RER nav unit came in today and I went get it installed with the rear view camera and now the I-Pod integration does not work with the dealer installed RER nav unit. The I-Pod soft button is not even on the screen when the I-pod is hooked up. And the stupid service tech is saying that he talked to mopar and they told him that the I-pod intergration will not work since the RER nav unit was not factory installed. It just don't make no since to me why it would work fine with the REN non-nav radio that came with the truck but it won't work with the RER nav radio. The wiring is already there in the glove box for the I-pod from the factory and it worked fine with the REN radio. Some please shed some light on this for me since the dealer service techs are no help.

I changed from a RES to an RER. From what I have read, the REN uses a different ipod cable. If you want iPod interface you need to buy the cable 82211853. Your dealer should have know that, but heck, dealers don't know squat. I believe the REN uses an external interface for the ipod, but the RER is a direct connection using the 82211853 part. I would take it back to the dealer and make them SOB's fix it.

You need to have the stealer Whoops I mean dealer install the Ipod integration cable that goes with the RER unit, your original cable will not work. You can find these incidents on early 09 threads where the service dept. were confused on what to use, It doesnt matter what unit was installed by the factory has nothing to do with it except you have the wrong ipod cable in there now, make them fix as part of the deal. The sad part is they are supposed to be five star service and most don't know their a$$ from a hole in the ground. My Dad went to buy me the electric lock kit for the tailgate and they argued with him back and forth that it wasn't made (this was a month ago), he brought back a pic from an ebay ad, they finally found it on their computer, but said they had to order, after 10 minutes from getting home they called and said wow we have 4 in stock. Thats what you get when you hire personnel from Mcdonalds and minimum wage I guess.
