It seems that when my engine is cold like first thing in the morning, it is significantly faster than once it warms up. Is this common? And is there any way to make the truck run like that all the time? Or am I delusional?

 

cold air = dense air = increased hp

 

cold air = dense air + PCM algorithms + Drive by wire = Who the f$@k knows

 

when the air is cold it is denser which means any given volume of air is going to weigh more, which means either the truck runs lean... which means more power, or if you have a computer controlled car it adds more fuel, or adjusts timing which means more power.

It also means that if your truck was pulling timing due to preignition, that it no longer needs to, which means more power.

I think I probably pick up about 70 HP when it drops into the teens.
