Factory alarm ?
My truck came with keyless entry but no alarm. Can it be activated by the dealer or does something have to be installed? If I get a remote start installed does the alarm get activated also? Parts department wasn't sure about activating the alarm.
Add to the above query. How can I shut off the seatbelt warning chime? I was able to accomplish that on my '05 Dak but haven't found a solution on the '09 Ram.
EDIT...found the answer
The Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) can be enabled
or disabled by your authorized dealer or by
following these steps:
NOTE: The following steps must occur within the first
60 seconds of the ignition switch being turned to the ON
or START position. DaimlerChrysler does not recommend
deactivating the Enhanced Warning System
(BeltAlert).
1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and
buckle the driver's seat belt.
2. Start the engine and wait for the Seat Belt Warning
Light to turn off.
3. Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle, unbuckle
and then re-buckle the driver's seat belt at least three
times within 10 seconds, ending with the seat belt
buckled.
NOTE: Watch for the Seat BeltWarning Light to turn on
while unbuckling and off while re-buckling the seat belt.
It may be necessary to retract the seat belt.

I have a problem with me truck. I have a 2001 Ram 1500 Crew Cab. I bought and FOB has a Lock, Unlock, and a Panic buttons. My problem is that from time to time and recently about every 2 days the alarm on the truck will go off for no reason. Sometimes it happens when I try to unlock the doors. I thought that maybe I had hit the panic button but when I hit it the panic alarm goes off. I thought that maybe the battery in my FOB was low so I took the FOB apart and did not put it back together and it did it at about 3 AM this morning. I do not have remote start. This is really pissing my wife off. I am currently looking for a fuse that I can take out and I will just use my key to get in. If anyone has any good ideas that would be great.
Loud vehicles and heavy trucks going by can set it off too. I used to have a loud Chevy Plow truck, headers, loud flowmasters, and turndowns right in front of the axle when revved it I could get almost any car alarm to go off. I used to get the one guy at work all the time, he always caused **** on the line and I was repairman and when he screwed up I worked hard since his job caused a snowball of problems, so I would see him pull in with his cool Stealth and I would make sure he was gone inside and pull beside him give it a rev and then take off and park in the other lot. Somebody the would know him would tell him his alarm was going off and well be then it was too late they would not let him go out till break and he only had 9 minutes to run way out there and shut it off. That was when alarms had no timers except the battery dying. Somebody threw him a hint if he wasn't such a jerk maybe that wouldn't happen anymore. It worked he managed a transfer to another plant. We had a party, after he left LOL>
