Default REN Upgrade, Uconnect?

So i have the base model deck in my SLT... With sirius, and uconnect... If i purchase a radio with sirius, and the uconnect buttons... Will the uconnect work? Or is there a separate module i'd have to install... Tried searching, and failed ...

There's a separate module for Uconnect. Without the module installed, pressing the Uconnect buttons will display "Not equipped with Uconnect" on the radio display.

I just had Uconnect installed in my '09 SLT, the module itself was $231 and the iPod connector was another $37.50, plus installation.

If he already has uconnect the module should be there already if he hooks it up correctly and probably will have to take it to the dealer and get starscanned that is all. Take your lower glove box door and open it all the way and squeeze the sides in and it will open further and look on the right side you should see a black box about 3 inches by 4 or so and the cable coming from it will go up to the radio. Good luck

Ah I see what he was saying. I thought he didn't have Uconnect currently.

I know if you don't have the Uconnect buttons on your radio, it's a separate part number from the Uconnect module that goes with the radio with the buttons. I'm not sure what the difference is though.

There is a model that if you don't have the buttons it gives you a wired remote you stick to your dash that does the job of the buttons. I know this because the dealer tried to ram that one down my throat. I told them I have a REN I changed my radio. So they said what is your VIN...so I told them they said you dont have a REN, I didn't change it in the computer yet, now it shows dealer installed but anyway regardless I had the buttons on my cheapo radio so I didn't need that part. I think you will need part 82211878 but check with dealer or search around on the net that is the part I bought. It allows for the cable to hook up and Ipod with charging ability. Now don't go buying anything cuz of what I said, double check with dealer.

Partly true
RES cheap model but may have the uconnect buttons but would require a separate module that can be ordered and installed in the plant or after by you or the dealer

REN is the MY gig, may or may not have uconnect, depends if it has the module installed, but I believe all REN's have the buttons not matter what.

RER has is all built into the radio except the GPS antenna and of course sat antenna if you have it.

Well you would think, be sure you get the high speed bus radio, and I don't know if all REN's have Satellite, I think that is built into the radio. On the back you should see a white round thing for the radio antenna and a yellow one for the satellite antenna and if you have the RER the Nav antenna connects to the Blue connector. These are flimsy connectors so be careful. Now if you get a 2010 radio I am not sure but I believe the radio antenna gets a different connector more of a rectangular deal, I saw one quickly so I am not entirely sure.

Ya no worries, I'm carefully watching the part numbers to make sure I get one that'll work with my truck... And i'll be getting sirius, uconnect, but no NAV... not really needed, have my garmin if need be, but i prefer maps, and a compass

The uconnect is going to be a separate part w/o the Nav system. Sometimes it is worth spending about 400 bucks more and just get the Nav radio, I wish I would have since it has satellite and GPS AND the Uconnect is not a separate module. You will still need a trip to the dealer I believe to get everything working...the GPS and Uconnect will need starscanning because your computer wont recognize the uconnect module. Funny everything pretty much works on the radio before starscan, in fact my sat is getting close to a year and still going, wondering if it will ever quit. Not registered to me yet.
