Default Defrost Always On (a little bit)

New thread to request info from other owners on this specific issue:

On my 2009 with manual controls, when I select "floor only" on the control **** I still get air blowing through the windshield defrost outlets.

Can you guys/gals test yours and see if it does the same or if it cuts out the defrost completely?

Thanks a bunch.

I have noticed the same thing on my '08 Ram. Did not really bother me though.

Wasn't there a recall on 2009 with manual climate controls? Maybe that is part of the problem they are having.

I read the threads on that Recall but it didn't appear to apply to my symptoms. Then again, mebbe it do.

Anyway, I would still like to hear from anyone whose system operates DIFFERENT than mine before I take it in to the dealer.

Mine runs like this sometimes, I asked the dealer, and they told my the RRT to reprogram my body control module or whatever, because the computer gets confused and doesn't close defrost, and sometimes won't reopen it when you need it...

It is designed that way for safety, always a little air blowing on the windshield to keep it from fogging up. I'm a Mercedes technician and have noticed a lot of nice ideas, that Mercedes has used for years, now also on my Ram.

I can accept that explanation although I'm woefully **** about having ultimate and over-riding control over those things when I have sense enough to turn them on when needed.
