Default Paintless Dent Repair

Had a rock thrown at at my driver's door about a year ago by a roadside mower that left a nasty quarter size dent right by the door handle where I had to look at the damn thing every time I got into the truck.

While at the dealer this week on another issue, a mobile dent repair guy was there and offered to repair it for $90 if I was satisfied...no charge if I was not satisfied.

I am now $90 poorer. He did a perfect job. I had no idea that process was available...duh. Well, okay there is still a little paint scratch but I think I can blend in a little dupli-color with clear coat over it and buff it out.

Beats the $450 dollar body shop estimate.

The sooner you get the dent attended too the better they can repair it also. Something about the metal and wanting to keep its shape...he lost me cuz it was a nice day and for some reason a ton of old classic cars and trucks were going by, he kept talking I was looking and well not paying attention, but make sense they can fix dents perfectly if it is not greased or the paint cracked or pitted.
It's a talent really, the local guy here came into our plant to show how some of those dents that happen during assembly can be fixed without paint. cuz a little dent sets your delivery date back, its ridiculous. This guy goes around for Chrysler and teaches the technique but still if you catch him when he is here I guess he does great work.

Okay, here's a photo of the remaining scratches after the dent was removed.

Which one of you paint touch-up experts would care to guide me through a process that you've found to be successful?

Note: the scratches go all the way to the primer and the paint is raised at the edges of the scratches.

Thanks in advance

I am a believer in paintless dent reapir to. I had only had my truck for about three months and I was at the gym. I opened up my door and the wind blew and pulled the door from my finger tips and it hit the mirror on the car next to me. I had a small dent right under the driver's side door handle. I could see it everytime I opened the door and it drove me nuts. I paid $50 bucks and it was gone. I love those paintless dent repair people.

You cant beat the PDR, those spoons are awesome, you can buy them(VERY EXPENSIVE), but the trick is to know what to do, that is why i leve the big ones to the experts, but I do remove my own, on my 99, none so far ont he09 ,knock on wood, 05Dakotaho.............
I put my paint in a syringe, with a small needle, I use the ones for insuline, get one at the CVS or like it and put the paint in it ,you wont believe how good it looks ,it will fill in the lines of the scratch perfect, just be steady...........

Hey thanks. I knew someone would chime in with an idea I hadn't thought of.

No problem, take your time , and point the (angle part of the needle) where the liquid comes out towards the scratch, push it slowly, and it will look great with out paint all over the place, you can come back again after it has laid down and fill again it looks fantastic, pracitce on something else first, youll get it.

I love PDR also, had a big hail storm that got my 02 QC. PDR made it better than new, even removed some imperfect panel stampings from the factory. But you have 2 possible problems with the process. One, if the dent is deep or over stretched, the clearcoat can crack and you will not know for several months. Two, I noticed that after 2 or 3 years, some of my dents started re-appearing slightly as the metal tried to return to its dented state. I don't think that PDR is recommended on an aluminum panel which our hoods are.
