I can't really tell that I have it either, just taking dodge's word for it. Although there is a fine line between really good mileage and really bad at higher speeds so I assume I have it.

Talking Mds

I have a 2009 Ram 1500 and mine does have MDS. I am guessing that you have the MDS indicator light turned off. Does your instrument cluster have an LCD screen (roughly 3 x 3 in the middle)? If so, you can scroll down to the last item on the list titled 'setup'. The vehicle cannot be running (key in 'on' position). Scroll thru the various setup options until you see an option titled 'display fuel saver'. Apply a check mark and exit out. If you do not have this option in your setup menu, you probably do not have MDS.

All the 5.7's have the fuel saver option to cut two cylinders - So just because the light is not present, doesn't mean the vehicle does not have VVT/MDS .... am i right.....

Sounds low to me.

With 3:55 gears and 32.2" tires, Crew Cab stock 4x2, 5600lbs total weight:

I get 20-22mpg at 60mph 1470rpm
I get 18-19mpg at 70mph 1710rpm

no wind, flat terrain

My build date is 2-09. I don’t have the indicator light, but I do get the slight vibration in the gas pedal when the MDS engages and I have the green slip of paper (supplement that came with the owners manual) that states that if I uses any other viscosity oil than the recommended 5W-20, the MDS would not work properly so I’m guessing I have the MDS. Hope that helps.

From another thread about this, the early 09 build Ram's did'nt have the FuelSaver light, it still has the MSD. Thats what that bogg with a vibration is. The question was asked, well can I have my PCM reflashed to get the FuelSaver light. I don't recall exactly what the other thread stated, I think you would have to change out your gauge cluster in the atleast and possibly your PCM. Thats a situation where you would have to ask the service manager what exactly is required..........Kevin.
