Toyota Halting Sales of 8 Recalled Vehicle Models (including Tundra)
Toyota can't figure out why gas pedals are sticking and so not only have they recalled vehicles, they are now taking it one step further and stopping sales of these vehicles. While I appreciate their response to the problem (instead of pretending it didn't exist), I sure am glad I didn't buy a Tundra.

Here at work it is mostly trucks, so we wear our brands on our sleeves.........a lot of BS goes back and forthe, so this morning after hearing that the Tundra is the best built truck in America yesterday by one of my buddies, I came up with this................
Call or go to a friend that owns a Toyota Tundra, and shake his hand and say "HOWS IT HANGING? ", when they start talking, then say , Im talking about your gas pedal ..they have laughed about it ,all in good fun, but I know the problem is serious, just got tired of hearing how Chevy ,Ford And Dodge just cant compete with (THERE) quality.

How widespread is this problem? I hear more about the transmission slipping than accelerator pedals sticking. Maybe Toyota will increase rebates once models are for sale again. This is going to be really bad for their reputation.
The weird thing is that as I read this thread, the NBC Today show did a story on this same matter.

I read that the models toyota is putting a halt on makes up for 65% of their sales. Wonder if any other company would take those kind of measures. Im gald they are doing the right thing, but was kinda upset when they first tried to put the blame on the floor mats.
Ill be waiting for my letter in the mail. lol

After the 09 Camry killed 3 people with the run-a-way pedal, they found the floor mats had already been put in the trunk ---they had better stop ALL vehicles till they know how to fix them, my uncle has parked his untill.........the idea that it may not happen to his wife while driving is not feasable to him. PERIOD .
First they siad it was the floor mats, so consumers removed them
Second Toyota said it was the pedal, and the wanted to SHORTEN THEM

Now it is a problem in which they need more time to dignose

Automatic transmissions kill people, yup, in the event of sudden acceleration.. with a manual, you disconcert the drive train so much quicker than shifting into neutral or ridding the brake.
Toyota doesn't have a brake over ride on the electronic throttle, Every make now uses electronics to control acceleration, even Dodge.
Audi had this problem back in the 80's, mid 70's Fords used to jump into gear when idling, I learned the hard way by not setting the parking brake.
Toyota did the correct thing, save their brand image by correcting a problem, unlike Ford ( explorer firestone )
Evey safety gadget, every gps system, my gig, every electronic throttle control is a safety issue waiting to wipe you out.
Evey make uses one or three auto parts supplyer's, so this is not just a toyota issue, I have heard Toyotas made in Canada have this issue, where as jap toyota's do not.

It already has killed people! They were blaming it at first on aftermarket floormats. This has been going on for quite awhile and they just couldn't sweep it under the floormat any longer, pun intended. I doubt they deserve any praise for the work stoppage, it was either that or go bankrupt for lawsuits. Not to mention I'm sure the NHTSA had a hand in it as well.

At the heart of this latest recall are accelerator pedal mechanisms produced by Indiana-based CTS Corp. at its plant in Mississauga, Ontario. What's not immediately known is whether the problem with these parts is in their manufacturing or an issue with their design, choice of materials, etc.

Replacement mechanisms have already begun shipping/received at assembly plants.
