Hello all. First post.

So I have a 2009 Tundra and am sick of this piece of crap. I want another truck but hate the F150 design. Checy truck looks like its smiling at me and Titan is ugly so the Dodge Ram is on my radar.

What problems do I have to worry about with the Ram? I have not had time to comb the forums and look for them so if someone can shoot out a list of things that are wrong with the truck I can make a decision if mine is worth trading for.

I love the look of the new Ram.

So are you loving your Rams or are you wishing you got something else?

 

Hi, I've owned a 09 Ram CC Sport since sept.30. In just over 3 months I've managed to rack up 18,000kms
I LOVE this truck!! I looked at the Toyota and the Ford but have always been a Dodge guy, grew up that way ;-)
I said I wasn't going to mod this vehicle the way I have done others but I can't help it! I truly LOVE it and wanna make it the best I can! I wasn't able to order mine and had to buy what the dealer had on the lot, that being said I'm even more impressed with this truck!
I have averaged 700kms per tank EVERY tank since NEW! Very happy with the performance and the milage!
I have the 3:55's and wish I had the 3.92's but you can't have everything!LOL

I've noticed that the SLT and Larimines are having issues with bumpers rusting from cheap plating but the Sports don't have that problem.

So far I've added the mopar mud guards, splash mats, window tint, forged rims, snow tires for oe rims,Mopar CAI, Magnaflow exhaust, and my tonneau cover should be here soon....
Thats alot of stuff for a truck I wasn't going to touch LOL, BUT I don't plan on selling it anytime soon, in fact one of my kids my get it one day cause this ones a keeper ;-)

And remember when your gas pedal is stuck to the floor in a DODGE its cause your passing the Toyota in the next lane ;-) LOL

 

Thanks WarWagon. My tundra's bumpers are rusting too. I don't know why they let this happen. A trucks bumpers should be able to withstand a shotgun blast. Guess they don't care.

 

They used to be able to withstand ALOT more than the new ones thats for sure......To many Bean Counters these days not enough focus on the end product.
Don't know if you've driven a 09 yet , but if not DO IT immediately and you won't even consider the other trucks anymore! The ride is THAT MUCH better

 

i own a 09 sport 4x4 QC 5.7 and i love this truck,the only thing i can say try to find one with 3.92 gear (it is limited slip)mine is 3.55 open and no traction at all (i am from canada lot of snow.

 

to put it simply, YES! lol

 

So far, I am loving mine. Haven't had it all that long though. I am coming from a high perf 454 and can say this thing pulls just as good. Can't wait to tow the trailer with it. I have found that Dodge actually has some decent prices on parts and pieces for this truck, other then towing mirrors...

Issues that I have read about it here are....

-bumpers rusting ( I will be watching this)
-water leaks, mostly 3rd tailight issues it seems (easy fix)
-heated/cooled seat material stretching out (don't have them)

My bro owns a 2008 Tundra and loves it. Although he comented on how much more room my crew cab has int he back then his does. I have driven it and have to admit I loved the truck, the handling and it's abilities. The only thing I hated was the looks and the seats. Top of the line truck with the best seats out there and I could not make them comfortable. At the end of a road trip, I could hardly get out of the truck...... so that alone wrote the Tundra off my list. What is wrong with yours?

 

I would not spend a dime on any new make of truck. Dodge is a equal chance to be a great truck, or a real pos, thiers no concern abought quality from any brand.

Image over substance rules the day, now For the 1500 Ram, truck has a great ride, lots of snap, I also like the new gm trucks, but with gm, thiers no ground clearance in camparson to a dodge, ford, nissan or toyota.

I'm convinced new halftons have traded in thier truckniss for passenger car ride, throw in a box and thats abought all a 1500 modle truck is.

I'm no longer brand loyal, dodge has impressed me, but not enough to buy into thier BS, I'm pissed at dodge from my last test drive of a 010 ctd 2500 ram.

You have to drive every brand and get the best price for your buck, Toyota stepped up with the Tundra, Ford's have burned me in the past where as othier truck ownershave had bad luck with dodge.

be prepared to roll the dice and take your chances, I say this for any brand

 

A few weeks ago i traded my Tacoma in for a Ram and I havent regretted it at all. No remorse at all. I was the same way as you. I compared all regular sized trucks. Tundra-nice exterior but horrible, horrible interior. F-150- wayy overpriced for what you got. Silverado- Nice Truck but just like ford they wanted more than worth. Ram- Priced Great for the features it came with. This is just my personal opinion. I was by no means a Dodge man when i went looking for a new truck by the way. Completely neutral.

 

First. It is up to you. I don't know what you will get for your 09 Tundra with the Toyota issues going on right now. Don't know if you own or if you still owe on the Toyota. That being said.

I like my 09 Ram 4x4. It is ok in gas milage for a truck. I also don't drive a lot a miles per month. The ride was the best, imo, compared to the other trucks (Nissan, Ford, GMC, Chevy). Is it perfect. No, mainly some rattles in and around the dash. It is quite when its not rattling. Power is good for a 1/2 ton.
