This is really for ram owners from california with the 09 1500.
I have to update my tags in april but everyone is telling me that the price went up 30% is that true and has anyone bought the tags this year yet and how much did u pay

Well i dont own a ram, but i had to renew my tags on my 08 tundra Dec 31st. would have cost me $434.00. Seems a little more than it should be. They broke it down like this:
Registration Fee: $56
License Fee: $268
Weight Fee: $80
County/District Fees: $10
Smog Abatement Fees: $20
Plus a little late fee that ended up coming out to $489. Now that I think of it, it is a little more than last year. I figure all fulls size trucks should cost the same when it comes to registration renewal right? hope this helps.

sking, I'm with you. I'm sitting her looking at the renewal for my 99 QC. It's $53.70 + the $10 local fee, which used to be called a bridge fee. So anyway, $63.70 for the tags. My trailer which is listed for farm use since I really only use it at the ranch is $6.30. My brother lived in Bakersfield for 5yrs, as much as he loved the weather he couldn't wait to get back to TX. I see why now. Jeff.

Registrations are going up everywhere. I live in Florida and I have a NFL tag(Miami Dolphins). plus a vanity charge, $115. The state of Florida also approved the insurance companies to raise there rates. Can't wait to see what that costs!!!!

Your tag price would come down in CA if you put a shell on your truck when you take it to the DMV and remove it after you get a new sticker...
Same thing for 5 seater SUV, get the seven seater and lay down or remove the rear seats, the state charges more and considers a 5 seater SUV a "commerical" vehicle.

That late fee alone would cover the tags on my 3 cars for 4 years.
