Drop in Filters
I have decided to go with a K&N filter and keeping a spare dry one on hand for when I take it in for service. The place where I am getting it from said the same thing. That it shouldn't void the warranty but if I am afraid it will to just keep an extra dry filter on hand. He has not heard of anyones warranty being voided because of the filter and as far as I have seen here and in other forums nobody has had any problems. And I will definitely ask my service manager. I am going in there tomorrow and will let you know what he says.
Just bought one today (K&N), after stealer said I needed a filter (which I did it was 12 mo.), battery service (which was bs at 29 dollaros, clean as babies bottom, well not mine after a #2), differential rear oil dirty at 149 with 16,000 miles (maybe), and throttle body/injector service for 149, went to discount auto parts found it at 58 and then found one at autozone for 49, had one in my last truck and they never gave me a problem about and I oiled it 3xs till 76,000 miles no sensors went bad, not worried about it in the least.
yeah,i usually dont oil my k&n to often since im mosly city driving. so honestly once it gets a little dirty it probably filters better... lol
i too have had one on a ford ranger for 110,000 miles with no problems, and i got really laxed on cleaning that one actually....
im actually thinking about getting an aem but cant find a drop in...

I live in a very dusty place. It is very dry here in the summer and the town I live in has a bunch of new neighbourhoods going in. Lots of dirt. It is usually pretty windy here as well.(so why did I buy a balck truck???) Lol!
So I am assuming I will need to clean mine a little more often than normal. What would normal be anyway?

The AEM drop in is not listed as fitting the 09's, but b/c the airbox is the same as the 3rd gens the filter is also the same. The 3.7, 4.7, and hemi all had the same airbox in the 3rd gens and probably still do (I haven't seen the new 3.7 and 4.7 airboxes).
You actually will clean the k&n less than the dryflow b/c it catches less dirt and therefore takes longer to load up. They have info on their site for how often to clean them, but you may want to buy one of those filter minders and install it so you know when to clean it.

Here is where I got the one for my dad http://moesperformance.com/index.php...oducts_id=1808. The part number is on that page if you want to see if you can find a better deal, but w/ free shipping that one is hard to beat.
