Default Lift Level Tire question

I know alot of you guys have put a lift or level kit on your trucks in order to fit larger wheels on the truck. By putting one of these kits on your truck I know you can now put larger tires ie 35" tall tires on but I don,t understand how this allows you to put on wider tires. How is this making more room for the width of a larger tire like 35/12.5 17 etc. I have an 09 QC Hemi 4x4 and am new to all of this tire stuff. Just trying to learn from you guys. Thanks

From my understanding the reason wide tires wont work is they hit the wheel well (or control arms - or both) at full turn.

Raising the truck will solve the wheel well issue, but not the control arm issue.
