Default windshield icing

Hey guys. I have an 09 Ram quad cab 4x4 Hemi SLT I am having a problem with the INSIDE of the windshield icing up when parked at work. Here in Toronto it is about -5 celcius. It doesn,t happen every night but it is starting to get really annoying. This isn,t just fogged up, it is ice. I have to let the truck run for what seems like 10 minutes before the defrost is hot enough to defrost the ice. Anyone else have this problem? It is a waste of gas if nothing else.

Sounds normal - didn't happen with any other car you've owned? When it's really cold here the same thing happens with my truck and other cars - the moist air from you breathing when the car is warm condenses and freezes almost immediately when you shut the cars off. -5c isn't really that cold though, I see it when it's more like 0F and below here.

try Rain-X window anti fog, you wipe it on the inside of your windows. Ive tried it before with good results.

Was there snow on the ground, thus on your shoes, then on your mats? Just sounds like you have a lot of moisture inside your cab.

I prefer a good cream cheese icing, but not on my windshield.

Sounds like moisture in the cab, drain any water out of your floor mats and crank the heat, open a window a bit and you will let some moisture out. Happens to me all the time with my last truck, not this one yet but our weather has been very mild since I got it. I won't be surprised when it happens though.

Thanks for the replys guys. I am using rubber winter mats because the carpet mats hold alot of moisture in. I will try the rainx antifog on the inside of the windshield. My truck seems to be the only vehicle in the lot after work that is iced up inside.

Know this issue well - especially living in an area where the temperature is consistently diving below -20C at night. I have the Michelin floor mats and they tend to retain a significant amount of H2O - I routinely shake them out to minimize the excess moisture in the cab. Also, if your truck has been sitting in the sun during the day (even if it's below freezing), the formation of of ice will occur that much faster once the sun goes down and the temperature begins to plummet. That added little bit of heating from sitting in the sun all can make a big difference.

Cheers

I think it's just normal. Is it?
