VES Operation
Ok Guys,... Need help with the operation of my Ves system in the truck. I have the Nav and then also the Ves option with the Sirius Tv. I brought the truck into the dealer awhile back because the Ves option on my display was ghosted over. They told me normal ops and showed me how they thought it worked by going to different screens to operate the Ves. It doesn't seem right. I don't know what normal ops is. Should the Ves option be ghosted over on my front nav display?
Next, The 6 disk indash DVD/CD player. Should my nav unit be a 6 disk changer? The Ves cost me $1695.00. Online at the dodge site; when you build your truck and add this option; it says that it includes a 6 disk dvd/cd indash changer. Mine doesn't. It excepts one disk and thats it.
Next, I call dodge corporate...Give them my vin and they look at my build sheet from the dealer. They tell me my truck doesn't have the Ves option; That my dealer ordered the overhead display system....And its not the same as Ves. It will play dvds through my nav unit, but my truck doesn't have the in dash changer that comes with the Ves. When I took the truck to the dealer the first time, the guy didn't know how the system worked ;and you could tell he was making it up as he pressed buttons.
So I tell them I paid $1695.00 for it...They took all my info and want me to take the truck back to the dealer to figure something out...Does this sound right to you guys?...I don't have a truck to compare to. Is the Ves in the ram supposed to have a built in DVD changer? Did I pay all this money for a display?...I think they charge the same amount of money for the Dual head rest Dvd set up...

I have the factory NAV/VES/SAT TV in my 2010 Jeep, same radio/system as the RAM (RER radio).
The 6 disc is not possible with the VES/NAV as far as I know.
Do you have the window sticker? If its not there then its dealer installed.
I'll have to look if the VES is greyed out, I believe it is until the rear screen is down and turned on. I had a lot of troubles with the radio/VES at first. There was no AM on the rear screen and the SAT radio didnt work on the rear either. Dealer was lost on it all and zero help. I ended up disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes and after that it all works correctly now.
Good forum here for the mygig radios:

When my wife gets home I'll take a look and see if the VES is 'on' or not at the front display.

Thanks for the reply...
Yes, Its on the window sticker. Video Entertainment System...$1695.00
When I asked Dodge corporate; they told me the sticker is put on by the dealer. They said, that they just get a build sheet from the dealer for the truck that that dealer wants built. And in the case of my truck, They only show that they put an overhead display system per dealer request. They said the everything is coded and that was what I had. Not the Ves system. Thats why I was confused about the system. And yes your right, no one at the dealer knows how it really operates....
Let me know, if yours is ghosted or not...Thanks for the help

I am from South Africa and got a RAM 2500 Laramie Megacab.
- Can the VES play DVD image on the RAK radio as well?
- Can the radio tuner only search in increments of 0.2 ?
- What format DVD's should one use in the VES ? Not all my DVD's are playing in the VES?
