Happy, happy....joy,joy....
Took the new truck on a road trip this weekend. Managed to get 22 mpg on the way out being nice, and 20 on the way back being a little more aggresive. Overall, 21 mpg's compared to the beast running 6. I am happy!
On a side note, the damn thing feels like you are going verrrrrry slow so the cruise is a must, also nice to have the GPS set to beep me when I get too fast. And man, is it boring to drive. Out on the highway, set the cruise, no gears to shift, no slight pull to the right, no slop in the steering, no wind noise from the vent windows, no loud exhaust reverberating through the truck. A guy could fall asleep like that.
I think I need new exhaust as a safety feature...... LOL

Great job. I have been concerned about the mileage even since I signed on the bottom line. But I kept telling myself it can't be much worse than the 4.7 in my Grand Cherokee. It is doing about 18 in 20F. deg. temps.
Did you notice the MDS doing it's thing?

I think I need new exhaust as a safety feature...... LOLReally though you are right if not using cruise you look you are doing 60 then you change the radio station and you are doing 95 3 seconds later....man it has such power in that range, I swear I got a squeak out of the tires at 60 mph when I tromped on it. Just a little chirp and and kind of grindy noise the ESP makes, maybe the tires were gonna let go at 60,,,dam that is power, and cheap tires. No ice, snow, nice dry asphalt highway. Just be careful if you are running with the ESP off you never know it might get away from you.
I never noticed the MDS doing it's thing by a sound or seat of pants thing. I had the EVIC set to fuel Economy and you can see the ECO light come on and off and watch the mileage skyrocket when it's on. So it works, and works well. Not sure why everyone complains about it, so what if cruising along a flat stretch of road I am using 4 cylinders, not 8? Step on it and all 8 get you where you want to go. The cruise worked very well at keeping a consistant speed, even switching in and out of 4/8 cylinders. Very happy overall.
And, this is with 35" tires in mountains. If I had left the stock tires and went cruising the prairies in Alberta, I could have challenged a Civic. LOL
It will be interesting to see what I get this summer pulling my trailer. I am hopeing 12 or better. We will see. But anything is better then the old "Beast".
