Flowmaster 50 Series HD
I spoke to a guy at Flowmaster today about a new exhaust for my 2010 Ram 1500 Sport. I first asked about a true dual set up (I have true dual 40 series on my old truck and I love the sound) and he said that a true dual set up on the 2010 will void the warranty on the engine because the computer bases alot of information off of the Y pipe. That actually seems legit to me.
He said that I would have to go with a single inlet, dual outlet if I wanted to change my muffler. I asked him about the Super 40 or Super 44 and he said that they were not recommended because they would restrict the new Hemi's breathing.
He said they created the 50 Series HD specifically for the Ram Hemi and although it's not quite as loud as the 40 or 44 but still has a decent tone and will result in power gains and better mileage for my truck. So if I am looking for any performance gains I need to use the 50 HD and if I just want noise with stock muffler performance then I can do the 40 or 44.
It makes sense because before I called Flowmaster I talked to a custom exhaust installer and he said the same exact thing. (He recommended the 50 Series HD)
Anyone running a 50 series HD 3 inch inlet 2.5 inch dual outlet? I've looked at the videos on Youtube but I wanted to get any information I can from people who have these on their trucks. Does the truck have a decent growl at idle? I love firing up my old truck and hearing it roar and don't want to miss it when I'm driving my new one.

i actually swapped out the stock muffler with the flowmaster 50 series deltaflow ( the one for the hemi's) and it wasnt was loud as my 03 ram was with the same set-up. i dont know about the voiding of the warranty just for exhaust upgrade, but i am looking to do what another guy on here did and go with true duals and run an x-pipe with 2 50 series.

I spoke with a tech at flowmaster this week and he said he doesn't recommend the Delta Flow Muffler. He said that would restrict. The 50 HD is the one "made for" our Hemi's. I had a Delta Flow on my previous 03 HemiRam and I thought it worked just fine. But this time I will be going with the FlowMaster 50 HD Muffler. I love Flowmaster Sound.
I was told that anything from the cat-back is ok, it's changes before the cats that can cause warranty issues.
Don't do the FM50HD! I had it on my '04. Believed the ads about it being "made specifically for the Hemi", well they also advertise the HD is "made specifically for the Chevy HD". What a load of hooey!
It drones like crazy in the cab from about 1800-2200 rpm, not too mention that at 362 cfm it only flows marginally better than the 40 series. Also, the top of the muffler turned to swiss cheese. I was shocked it had so many holes in it when I removed it to install the Cherry Bomb I have now.
I won't argue that the Flowmasters have good sound, but there are a lot better flowing, more durably built choices out there.
Here is a little flow rate database I've been trying to build up on some of the more popular mufflers:

i believe it helps with the compression and evens out the sound. but mostly, it gives you a louder sound. i did it on my old mustang for a deeper and louder growl. it worked.
