Exclamation Clunk goes the new truck

Hi:

They say that the 'loudest noise in the world is the first noise in your new truck.' I just got my new 2010 Sport 1500 and it goes clunk when going over sharp bumps. It has got to be a good rap to make the noise. Any ideas out there?

Eckhard.

I had a 06 that had a thump noise when I went over a bump when it was new ended up being a bad shock.

Any idea where the noise is coming from? I remember someone complaining about those huge weights on the frame being loose and clunking.

It comes from the back end. It could be a shock as one of the shock covers is rubbing on the shock body indicating a bent shock. I have an appointment this pm to check it out.

Thumbs up

Just by chance do you have running boards. One of mine was loose made a clunking noise. Dealer could not fix it and they installed them...they actually put that on the paperwork. So me in my wheel chair(this is the millionth time I told this)and my brother inlaw fixed it. We just loosened it I pushed down on the board he forced some rubber pieces in between the frame and the running board frame tightened bolts. FIXED

It was the running boards. I had them taken off. I am going to buy some Dodge ones and probably install them myself.

i have a decent klunking noise comin from my back end .. getting louder .. mainly when the truck articulates .. for example going over a speedbump diagonally ... or taking a turn fast then whipping the wheel back .. like something shifts to one side, than back ...

somethin has to be loose ... i smell a recall or at least rapid response down the road .. anyone reading this . mark my words ..
