While changing out all my bulbs, highs, lows, fogs to HID's last week ... i dropped an outer screw for the grill .. not the machine screw that screws into the front crossmember .. but one of the outside screws that screws into the plastic facia ... the one with the very course threads ... same ones as the screws that hold in the headlight housing ...

so i figure .. ill go get one from my local dodge dealer right ? .. he went out . .got Vin # .. came back in ... said cant find the part ... went out again . reviewed truck .. i showed him hole ... he said .. ill go look ... so while i was at service desk getting appointment for getting my puddle light looked at ... ( it has a leak, water getting in, led's flashing etc ) ... he was supposed to go look in some bins ..

he comes back .. nope .. cant find part # .. cant find extra screws . dont have any ... try hardware store ..

im like .. WHAAAAA ??????

so ... what do you guys suggest ? ..

 

I'd suggest the same thing the dealer did. Try a hardware store.

 

I've encountered similar problems with fasteners. The problem seems to be that the fasteners are often part of a kit that is packaged with a component. Some service departments keep a supply of typical fasteners and some don't.

Good luck at the hardware store. BTW, there's always duct tape, wire ties and coat hangar wire.

 

Most big body shops have bins of body/trim screws. Just take another one out and match something up instead of showing them a hole.

 

most auto parts stores have a selection of misc. replacement screws like that

 

Take a new one for a "test drive"? Seriously though, if I knew anyone would do crap like that I would take it out on there azz. Go to a hardware or auto supply store.

What did they say about puddle light? I took mine in today because of same problem, water in light, leds shorted out. They had to take a picture of it and send it to Dodge to see if they will replace it. What kind of friggin service is that? WHats the point of a warranty if there not going to replace a defect with the truck.

 

dunno yet .. have appointment tomorrow .. the parts guy didnt want to comment on what they were going to do for me ..
