No issue here with either of my Chrysler vehicles.

When I first bought my truck I had the same problem. Sometimes it would start from 75 yards or so and sometimes I would have to be within 40 ft or so. Also the doors wouldn't unlock sometimes without multiple presses on the remote.
I brought it to the dealer for other issues and when it came back the remote start now works at a distance well over 100 yards.
I'm not sure if they had a problem and fixed it, but whatever happened it works fine now.

The stock remote start is good for 300ft, almost all after markets have a much better range. No, do not go out and buy a top of the line Viper. Most "base" starters go up to 1000ft.

There are also other "features" the factory start will have that a number of aftermarket will not...

Factory will not start if...

Hood is open
Door is open
Low fuel light is on (do not want to run your tank dry idling)
There are a few others that escape memory right now. I think one of them has to do with the air temp sensor.

I got factory because I like that it turns on my comfort features, such as heated seats and heated steering wheel.

LOL, this sounds like a Howie Long Chevy commercial in waiting. Love those commercials.
