Default Estimated Shipping Date

I just received my VIN # from the dealer after about 14 weeks of waiting. I called Dodge customer service and was told that my truck was completed yesterday and that the estimated shipping date is today (2/23/2010). He also said that it usually takes about 30 days for the vehicle to get to the dealer.
It's a 2010 Ram 1500 Quad Cab Sport 4X4 so I'm assuming it's coming from the Michigan plant? Why would it take 30 days to get here (I live in Virginia)? Anyone think it will be here sooner than that? How long do you think?

Expect AT LEAST 30 days. My truck is SUPPOSED to be coming today or tomorrow and it left the Chrysler plant on Feb. 10 and I live 20 miles from the plant!!! 2 weeks to go 20 Miles!!!

Mine was built on Feb 1 and sat waiting to be shipped until last Thursday the 18th when it changed to "accepted by carrier" status. It has to come about 200 miles via a distribution centre here in Ontario and I have had no further updates from my dealer.

So I would say based on my experience only that 30 days is pretty realistic.

I wonder if they hold trucks based on what rebates they are offering and release them when they are offering consumers less?

Wrong. You will get the best rebates available while your truck is on order. You may take delivery in april, but if the incentives in march were the best, you will get those.

I need to make sure I get my dealer to do that, she said that I was eligible for the rebates at the time I ordered the truck and if they were better when the truck arrived I could take those instead.

When I ordered the truck they were offering $2,000 off or 0% financing for 48 months. I wish I could take the cash and the financing but I have to pick one. The financing saves me more money over the course of the 48 months.

Here's an update on this chapter of the saga....my truck was delivered to the dealer yesterday the 23rd. So from build on February 1st to the dealer's lot was 22 days.

Picking it up Saturday. Very happy I was able to get in on the February programs vs. the November programs when I signed the deal. Saves me a couple of grand.
