Was told in years past by engineers that the film on the inside of the windshields was fire retardant.Over time it gets less and less. Its been appearing on the inside of windshields for decades.

I've haven't noticed anything that smells odd in my truck, except maybe after we eat mexican food . I don't think you will get anywhere with this. Dodge changed the body style and some other things, but they didn't change the process of how all these parts were made or where they bought them from. I'd be willing to bet most of the mfg processes of the individual parts has been pretty much the same for years. Good luck though if you pursue it.

ok, thanks all, but I'm guessing that from the time stamps on all of your replies that no one has actually checked this in the way that I described.. Believe me, I feel dumber for talking about this, but if you could humor me and just smell your forearm after taking a short ride in your truck, I believe that you'll experience what I'm talking about. Every 09 and 10 Ram that I've checked has the smell and you probably won't notice it unless you're looking for it.

Then why would it matter? It's like walking around bent at the waist checking for farts that are so faint you might have missed them.

OK, Ijust went out and put my nose right on the console and there is no smell that is even remotely unpleasant. It just smells like the typical vinyl and plastic and even that smell is not very strong.

You are welcome to come and sniff my truck yourself, if you like...

Never had the problem you speak of, sniffed my consol as well, no smell. Maybe you got one of the famous Rams built during the bankruptsy rumors and the guy dying the vinyl was'nt paying attention. All kidding aside, if you keep getting dye on your forearm, I would try to have Dodge replace the consol or the consol top.You got a brand new truck, it should'nt be doing this so early.Good luck man................Kevin.

Ever wondered what that **** is on the inside of you windshield in the summer time. Well some of it those plasticizers being boiled out of the plastic and condensing themselves on the windshield. Things like this are a part of modern living and we will have to put up with them unless they can be proved to be carcinogenic, they probably are, in which case you/we would have a case. It is an uphill battle but if you feel strongly enough, go for it. Keep us posted.
+1, all plastics leech over time.

Deadly or toxic? Probably not as much smoking 2 packs a day or truck stop food.

I felt a bit foolish but I smelled the console lid (while no one was looking of course) and it smells more like my sweaty arm than anything. When it gets warmer out I'll check it out more. But between measuring my bed offset, worrying about not having as much torque as a 4.7, spare tire being too small, looking for bumper rust and living in fear of my sunroof leaking I'm loosing enough sleep already..

console smells like plastic, kinda like the door and the dash and the rest of the truck except the front right tire, smells like dog ****-ran over some. The exhaust really smells if you smell it for like 10 minutes I know it could kill ya if you stay there long enough, must be Japanese or Chinese gas . No really man I have a october 08 build no stink, have you tried washing it and I wonder if the dealer put some kinda vinyl cleaner protectant during the prep before you picked it up.
