electronic throttle light
My sisternlaw that has a twin truck to mine just called me about a red light that has come on her dash, said it kinda looked like a lighting bolt close to the cruse control light, they are on the road, her daughter looked in the Manuel, found the emblem said it was ( electronic throttle). all her gages are working , had her take off cruse, light stays on, truck is running fine, anybody else seen this light?
Here is what the manual says. If she has stopped and restarted the vehicle and the light did not clear it is indicating a problem with the ETC. Thing to look for is if the light stays flashing when the engines running. I have not had this problem with mine. Even on a trip, I would take it into a dealer and have them check the code.
7. Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Light
This light informs you of a problem with the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) system. The light will come on when the ignition is first turned ON and remain on briefly as a bulb check. If the light does not come on during starting, have the system checked by an authorized dealer.
If a problem is detected, the light will come on while the engine is running. Cycle the ignition key when the vehicle has completely stopped and the shift lever is placed in the PARK position, the light should turn off. If the light remains lit with the engine running, your vehicle will usually be drivable; however, see an authorized dealer for service as soon as possible.
If the light is flashing when the engine is running, immediate service is required and you may experience reduced performance, an elevated/rough idle or engine stall and your vehicle may require towing. For vehicles equipped with a premium cluster this indicator will display in the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC). Refer to ”Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) — If Equipped” in this section for more information. UNDERSTANDING YOUR INSTRUMENT PANEL 219

I had the one in my '03 come on briefly for a few times when I first purchased the truck and I finally figured out that it was because I would sometimes be dragging the brakes a bit with the throttle opened when driving agressively (I am a two footed driver) which is normal when you are hustling a heavy A/T vehicle through the twisties. Once I made sure to keep off the brake and throttle as the same time it never reappeared. I have never seen it on my '09. Could be a cause if you do it a lot. It could be as simple as letting your foot rest on the brake pedal while driving. The safety features built into real vehicles with ETB's!

i don't think so, she had the cruse on when the light came on and i told her to take the cruse off, cruse should have kicked off if foot was on brake, she was supposed to take it in ,i'll report what i hear
I continue to have this issue and my dealer can't seem to figure it out. I was able to get a tech to do a ride along and sure enough the light came on and stalled out. He brought it into the shop and ran the codes and it came up with a bad Crank shaft position sensor. Got this replaced about 2 weeks ago and I still continue to have this problem. The issue is that it is intermittent and I notice that it usually happens on hot humid days. If anyone has had anything remotely like this and can offer help or advice please. I have 34K on the truck and I am pulling my hair out on this issue.
Had the same thing happen to my 09 with only 700 miles, only my lighting bolt was flashing so it went into limp mode, not very good. Did the key thing and was able to clear it to get home. Happened another time and did the same. Finally had time to take it to the dealer and they said couldn't find anything wrong til he went to drive it out of the shop and it happened. Lucky me. Anyway, they ordered a new computer and flashed it and haven't had a problem since. For some reason, they couldn't flash the original computer so they got a new one. Might have been inexperience with the new system.
