I ordered a 2500 back in January and it arrived at my dealer today. I chose the Hemi due to the fact I don't tow heavy very often and my driving style is city/short trips. Unless you tow heavy or drive alot of miles a year a Cummins won't suit you well. Don't get me wrong, I love the Cummins and owned three 5.9 Cummins in previous trucks. However, the new 6.7 with all the emission crap can be fickle unless worked hard on a regular basis.

Good luck with your purchase.

I went with the 2010 2500 Hemi motor with 4.10's and couldn't be happier. I test drove the diesel as well as the hemi and the diesel just isn't practical for around town driving unless you are consistantly pulling large trailers. In my eyes it is a big doggy around town. I highly reccomend the 4.10 gears if you go with the 2500 hemi though just because it is such a heavy truck and if you plan on changing to bigger rims and tires you will definatly appreciate having the steeper gears when it comes to acceleration. Love the 2500 Hemi

Default Mpg?

I am excited to hear from you; your truck sounds exactly like whatI want to buy. How does she do on the interstate? MPG in city vs highway? I intend on doing a lot to the engine and really want to create some serious power, but it would be nice if i could get decent mileage on the interstate...i am trying to figure out if i need the 4.10s or if the 3.73s would work...i doubt i will go as big as you with the tires and wheels either...let me know what you think...thanks

On my 2500 I ordered the 4.10 gears. First off the 4.10's will give you quicker acceleration which =. Secondly, and more importanly, the 4.10's increase the towing capacity and the GCVWR on the truck. I think the 3.73's are rated to tow around 8,000lbs while the 4.10's boost that number to 10,000lbs. For some this may not be a big deal but I tow a 26' boat and wanted the higher capacity.

As for MPG I'm still on my first tank of gas and the computer is showing 11.3mpg. That is mostly around town, stop and go driving with limited highway. I'm sure as the engine breaks in this number will increase. I can say without question that's a solid 2mpg more than my 2008 V10 superduty got driving the same way.

On a final note. Coming from a V10 F350 to the Hemi has been a wonderful experience. While the V10 was a towing beast it was sluggish around town. The hemi on the other hand is a screamer. I haven't even nailed the crap out of it yet and I'm impressed. For a 3/4 ton truck this thing hauls ***.
