Default What Temp does your Oil run at?

I have Mobil 1 Extended Synthetic and the expensive Mobil1 Oil Filter. When I first got it, it was pretty cold outside so it ran low. Now today its about 65F here in Austin, TX and I noticed it was at 204F. Is that normal? I know there are those bars in the middle and it was bearly past it but I just want to know what temps yall run at too. Also wheather conditions might help too. Thanks guys!

That's absolutely normal. I'm from Florida and during the summer with temps near 100 I've seen oil temps approaching 215-220 while in traffic. You have nothing to worry about, these are iron blocks and tolerate heat much better than those fancy aluminum blocks.

You will normally see the oil temps sitting a few degree higher than the water temp. You want the oil to get over 200 degree so that any water in the oil will burn off as a vapor.
