That is all the stuff you find out when you get there LOL, no you just measure the length of the transmission you are swapping and if it bolts on or has the same amount of splines...that is an expensive piece of custom material if you have to have one made. Inmy 72 chevy I changed to a small block with a 350 short stock trans and went to a short frame it had originally had a long box. Now the frame I bought was set up for a big block with a 400 tranny and there is a hangar bearing, so I figured with 2 different drive shaft I could piece together one that fit..nope. So I decided to have one made. they wanted almost a grand, i was supplying the tubes the parts all from the other shafts, was all labour an balancing. So instead I measured what I needed to go with a single shaft. I found one on ebay from some big car, was the exact size it needed only the u joints were bigger. so I thought I was screwed but turns out they make u joints with different sized ends so one way it was one size the other a bigger size. Works great. The drive shaft was 5 bucks on an auction on ebay and 10 bucks UPS and I picked in up in MIchigan 10 minutes away.
So all my rambling basically means is you have to start trying to find out what trans fits the motor, how long your trans is, best places for parts from late model vehicles are usually scrap yards near big highways , freeways that are noted for accidents. Like here the 401 has them dotted along. But I am sure it would be much easier to get the parts in the states.
Good luck, I like that project but I need a clutch by wire...is that available I wonder then I could be a paraplegic and have a stick shift car/truck

The Viper came with manual trannys. Maybe you can use the clutch setup from one. But the driveshaft part is easy...just get a longer one from a longer wheelbase truck and any ujoint specialist shop can cut them down to size! I've done it several times to many builds.

Yes they did, but the engine controller torque limited the motor to avoid transmission failures down the road. The Hemi changed between 3rd and 4th gen Rams, so that programming would be incompatible. If you do swap in a manual trans, you had better make sure it will hold up to the power and torque of the Hemi or you'll be replacing torque converters faster than clutches. All Chrysler vehicles with manual transmissions behind V8s and even the Viper V10 are torque limited electronically for this reason.

Can you not get an after market trans like from Tremec or some other place? Or is that what we have already?

Okay so 3rd gen manual hemi's exist though? And looking for one would not be a waste of time. And i get what you mean with the torque limiter. I just figured getting one stock and modifying it lightly would be easier than the conversion if it exists.

It definitely would be easier, and if you have the money I say go for it! BUT....I'm sure I'm not alone here when I say I think we'd all love to see pics of the process and finished work if you can. Especially if you have the floor-mounted shifter / center console setup in your 4th gen...throw a short-shifter or a sequential that'd be ****! Don't forget...they may also have to modify your driver's side to put the pedal assembly linkages in, retune for the different gear ratios, and you'll have some wiring issues, for example when I swapped my Camaro's 4L60E to a T56 they had to rig up a neutral switch so that the car would think it was in Park, little stuff that you may not think about at first will add up as you work heh. Good luck though, and like I said post pics!
