Default Flowmaster and Resonator

I have a single exhaust '09 Ram and I think I am leaning towards a flowmaster 50 HD muffler. After reading through a few threads on this site and others and looking at some clips the 50 series seems to be what I am looking for. I am having trouble finding vids that give me an idea how it will sound. Mainly what I am looking for is one that clearly shows that its a single exhaust and states that the resonator has either been left on or taken off. Most clips don't give info on the resonator.

Anyone have a single exhaust with 50 series muffler, specifically the HD? How loud is it on a scale of 1-10 if 1 is stock and 10 is the classic aggressive flowmaster growl? Will I still get a nice sound even if I leave the resonator on? I want something with a nice noticible sound difference to it, but not extremely loud.

I to have a single exhaust and have been researching the flowmaster, our problem is everyone has the dual setup and its totally different than what we are looking for, true? I've been looking at the 50 HD and the 40 Series on the 50 i want single in single out no resonator, and the 40 i want 3'' in dual 2.5'' dual out same side havent decided. another question does the inlet have to be centered or offset, cause if you look at your stock muffler its offset. with the flowmaster being considerably smaller does it matter?

Thats exactly the problem. I guess the group of SLT owners with a single exhaust are a minority. I am not sure on the other questions. I am going to be stopping by an exhaust shop thats done a couple of my friends Rams so I will keep those questions in mind. In the meantime if anyone has any insight it woul dbe greatly appreciated.

medic1 any luck on your research? i came across a post that stated that flowmaster lowers your horsepower due to its baffle thru design. so back to the drawing board. granted even if you lost 5 hp does it really matter when you have a truck that pushes 400 hp.

I acutally did find some similiar information, although the 50 series is better than most flowmasters.

Further research and some new sound clips that I found led me to consider the Magnaflow 18". Another forum member did a straight muffler swap, and left the stock resonator on. Hes loving the sound, and hasn't noticed any discernible power loss.

Unless more info comes to light in the next month or so, I will be going with the Magnaflow 18". From what I've found its 3" in/3 " out and center/offset.

i have the single exhaust system and installed a flowmaster super44. i dont know if this is too loud for what yall are looking for but i love it. i havent noticed any HP loss but it will get people looking. i got the center in offset out but havent put the rest of the tail pipe on. i dont like seeing the pipe but u will have to add pipe between the muffler and tail pipe. if your looking for for quite at idle but starts singing on acceleration leave the resonator on. hope this helps

if you want mild sound, go with the 50. if you want loud, go with super 40.
