Default Has anyone just removed resonators

Has anyone with the ram sport with the factory duals tried just removing
the resonators and leaving the factory muffler? How did it sound?
How about the drone? I am debating on trying this or just going ahead with a magnaflow and leaving the stock resonators.

its funny this was posted i just put my stock pipe back on. the vibration from just the turn down in MDS mode was making my wife sick. with the full pipe and resonator the vibration is gone. and i think between the both the stock pipe sounds better. still saving the $ for flowmaster its gotta be louder/meaner/deeper tone.

In my opinion the muffler is what zeros out the drone not the resonator. The resonator decreases overall sound. I left on my stock resonators and put in an At3030 muffler and it drones pretty nice at 60mph on the highway. But I drive 70-75 so it doesn't bother me at all. I have heard many positive reviews from people that left on the stock muffler but removed the resonator. They said it gave the truck that extra rumble they wanted but did not effect the drone whatsoever. Also keep in mind Hemi motors drone much more than other motors. So choose your muffler wisely if you do not like drone. Magnaflow is a great choice for your application but definatly stay way from dronemasters. The 40 series dronemaster has also been proven to decrease horsepower on the 2009 Ram Hemi motor because the chambers are not large enough.
In my opinion replace the muffler before you mess with the resonator but to each their own.

i removed the whole tail pipe from the rear of the muffler back and ran that for about 2500 miles. then i put on a flowmaster super44 with no tail pipe, just the muffler right to the back edge of the cab. i have a std cab. i have no drone, no complaints on loss of power and it sounds so good. my neighbors hate me leaving early in the am. my roommate has a 40 series on his tundra with duels and it drones so bad, but i have never had any issues with that but i never put tail pipes back on. i dont like seeing my exhaust pipe

Hey just go gamble the money away or get a ***** or better yet donate the money it will cost you for the new exhaust you want. You wife is gonna divorce you so you might as well buy what you want cuz you only get half.
