Default Got the Diablo Predator

Ordered up a Diablo Predator for my 2010 Hemi; in sum I am happy with it. I was able to update my new tire size, and most importantly..SHUT OFF MDS!! In 93 octane mode the truck pinged, so I retarded the timing a bit. Here in Maine they only offer 91 octane, but the custom tune seemed to be just perfect. The truck has great throttle response with the MDS off, sounds nice and smooth and lets me drive my v8 the way I want too. I guarantee I will save more gas without the MDS. Just wanted to update you guys and let you know I am happy with it.

Do not go to 87, that will ping bad, although with MDS off it may be OK as most of the ping was when you disengauged MDS, at least for me.

I also had issues with the 93 tune when it was under 35ish outside, no issues with 93 when it was warmer. If I nailed it doing 40-45+ it would "think" about downshifting to 1st, then decide not to, then decided to, then not to.... That would go one for 4-5 seconds then it finally would. It would take off very nice at that point, but that was not good at all. I was concerned it was something with my truck, but stock, and now SuperChips does not do this.

How do you get better MPG with the MDS off?

i did the MPG comparision with MDS on and off with my predator. saw about a mile decrese with MDS Off. With it off the truck felt so much better and even drove nicer. i bet if i baby it i could probably get it to same mileage as with the MDS On. I ran 2 tanks of gas and then made my comparison. I have the truck in stock tune though until Diablo can fix their pinging issues with mds. Superchips guys are loving their tuners so far and no problems yet.

Superchips is working on the 2010 turn now. Won't be long.

Thats what I am waiting for. Somethings in life are worth the wait! The biggest complaint with SC is that you have to plug it in and then send your info to SC and wait a day. Once again worth the wait IMO.

Sorry for this question, but what do you mean by "pinging"?

Got mine, so far so good. I installed the 87 tune and was pleasantly surprised with the increase in drivability. For $299.99 it's a good bang for the buck upgrade for the 2010s

I most likely will still purchase the SC when it is available because the extra tuning it will provide.

I do have a question for anyone that has messed around with the custom tune part... What does "Part throttle up shifts do in the real day?

Has anyone played with this feature? What are good shift points.

Thanks in advance

[quote=mrainv23;2092220]Sorry for this question, but what do you mean by "pinging"?[/quote

Detonation in the compression chamber which means an explosion of the fuel/air mixture vs a controlled burn...usually caused by improper (too low) octane rating for the spark advance setting and load conditions. The pinging or clattering sound of this condition resulted in the slang term "pinging".
