Default Thinking about switching to a 4th Gen Ram

Hi, I'm new to the forum and want to get some input on the 4th Gen Ram. I have a 2008 Ram 1500 5.7 hemi quad cab 2wd. I am thinking about buying a new truck and want to get input from someone that has had a 3rd gen and a 4th gen Ram. I'm am looking at a 2010 crew cab 1500 laramie 4x4, Thanks WDC

I would IMO the 4th gen is the best looking of all the ram trucks, and the interior is alot better

We had an 02 Quad Cab 2wd 4.7 Ram and stepped up to an 09 Quad Cab 2wd Hemi Ram.

We loved our 02, but we love our 09 about 10x more. Better mileage all things equal while getting nearly twice the power, ride is so smooth it puts most luxury sedans to shame, road/wind noise is less than half of what it was in our 02 (so much more comfortable now).

On our 09 we also opted for some more factory options than our 02 had (back up sensors, 500 watt Alpine system, and a couple other things), but since they were options, I didn't include those in the comparison.

All my other points are improvements that any 4th gen will have compared to a 3rd gen. Since your 3rd gen has the Hemi, you won't see a huge increase in power but you'll definitely see improved fuel economy.

Here is an apples to apples

I have a 05 Ram Hemi RCSB Sport 4x4 and now a 09 Ram Hemi RCSB Sport 4x4

1. Power difference is very noticible
2. MPG is 3 more with the 09, but my 05 did not have MDS, where your 08 does
3. Interior, well all you need to do is look at it.... MUCH better. Of course I am comaring a sport to sport, and in a 09 the interior of a sport is much like a Laramie and a 05 is much more like a SLT.
4. Over all I like the front and rear of the 09 better than the 05, but the sides on my 05. But that is just opinion.
5. Buy a 10 (new), many of the bugs people with 09s had are worked out. We need to take ours in to get RRTs performed.
6. EVIC is nice over the old overhead
7. Alpine radio much better than infinity system
8. Grill.... 05 was nice as it made it easy to get into engine compartment. 09 is nice because it is much more solid.
9. My 05 did not have 4 wheel ABS (Not sure if I could even get it). My 09 does, that is a plus
10. ESP, some do not like it, I do. I turn it "partially" off on dry pavement.

The difference is night and day. I stepped up from an '08 SLT quad cab Hemi 4X4 to a 2010 Laramie about 2 months ago and love it. I am still learning about all the goodies on the new one. Much better ride, smoother acceleration, better handling, much quieter, way nicer interior, and I could go on and on.

My advice, is buy it.
