Default help me pick tires. (something close to 285/65/20)

ok, it seems that 285/65/20 is the biggest that will fit stock rims, truck. (roughly 34.5" x 11.22)

so far i have only found, bfg all terrains, goodyear wrangler mt/r kevlar...

im on the fence. i would like some more choices, but its hard finding a tall "skinny" tire. most of em are in the 12" range....

It seems people are getting 35 x 12.50 tires on their 09's with a leveling kit. I am really thinking about Mickey thompson atz's in that size; they measure at 34.5.

I take it if you put on 35"x12.50's, you are also getting new rims with a higher backspacing?

I am looking at putting on a 3" lift, but want to keep my 20" chrome clads for the time being. Anyone know what the largest size tire is I can fit without much rubbing?

I too am wanting to do 35/12.50-20's on the factory wheels....but seems like some mixed answers on whether they fit or not. I can deal with or take care of some fender rubbing....but not much one can do about a-arm rubbing tho, which is where I've had trouble finding a straight answer in my searches.
So that being said.....subscribed!

I am slightly skeptical too, but I've talked to some people that have 35 x 12.5 trail grapplers with 2.5 leveling kit in the front and 1 inch rear. Stock 20 rims from a sport. From the pictures they looked like they actually had good clearance. It's enough to make a guy think about it.

I'm sorry to hijack ....but where did you find pics of this setup?! I wanna see!!

And just so its not totally off topic of the original poster...I've personally had good luck with the bfg a/t's and the nitto terra grapplers. Tho I have heard some terrible stories about the terra grappler, I had good luck with two different sets.!

I have the 285/65-20 Goodyear MT/R's. I also have the 2.5/1 Rough country level kit. The MT/R's look great and they do not rub. However, the snow and wet traction is not great and they howl like a coyote in heat. I previously had the BFG's and when the MT/R's wear out I am going back.

well, if you look, the only people that are fitting 35"s on stock's are guys with lift kits. most people are going aftrmarket rims with a little diff. backspacing to fit em on a level'd truck.

the rims are actually a little too narrow at 9" for 35x12.50's even though some people run them.

I've run wider tires on an 8.5 so that part is really of no concern to me personally, but whether the tire will rub the a-arm or some suspension comonent is of vast concern to me! Which, is the part that I cant quite find an answer to. As I said....I can handle/take care of a lil feder rubbing but struggling to find a "component rubbing" answer anywhere.
