Default Fuse for power outlet in back on console

2010 2500

We were recently on a trip and my kids had a laptop plugged into the power outlet that is in the back of the center console. About half way there is went dead. I was thinking fuse. But I can not find a fuse blown in the fuse box under the hood. Also, I can see a fuse labeled for the outlet but I also see a circuit breaker labeled for it. I took the CB out and checked it with a meter and it is good. Does anyone know if there is another fuse box or anything. Also I am thinking of trying to get to the back of the adapter to make sure power is not getting there, but do not see how to get the console apart to get there.

Is the power outlet you are talking about a 12VDC or 120VAC?
If it's 120VAC, the invertor is under the passenger seat, maybe there is a fuse there?

M49 (20A) in the underhood fusebox is for the rear 12v power outlet.

Nothing in between that fuse and the socket except wire. The socket may have been damaged as well.

Could also be the M31 fuse, manual is kinda vague. If its switched 12V then its M49, if its hot at all times its M31.

Thank you all for the replies. I am talking about the 12V outlet in the back of the center console. I will check those fuses again. I am suspecting that the outlet is broken. I think I need to replace it but not sure how the console comes apart to get to it.

According to the service manual you can go into the outlet with a pair of external snap ring pliers and push outward on some tabs and pull it out without removing the console.

At least thats what it says anyhow..

Thank you for all of the replies and the digram. I am going to try to pull it and check the power at the back.

Just in case anyone runs into the same problem, here is what I found. I removed the outlet per oldjeep's instructions. I founf that there was no power to the back. I re checked all fuses. I then started tracing wires. The wires for the console come out and go under the drivers seat. There they go into a plug. I unplug it and pluged it back in and all started working. So apparently the plugs under there can work lose enough to make some of the wires lose connection.

I had this same problem with a used 2010 dodge ram I just bought, when I looked at the lighter cig cap picture it has a key pic on it with 12v dc on it. I was not sure what that meant or why the hell my cell charger would not work! so I twisted and turned it and turn the key on to acc and off again to try and make it work. The picture simply means that the key has to be in the ignition and the truck turned on to work. It wont work when the truck is turned off unless the key is in turned to Acc.

Anyway, I took all the advise I saw on here, with the exception of oldjeep, simply because I don't have the skills, tools, or ***** to start fiddling with the truck I just bought.

So I checked the fuses, SURE ENOUGH!!! MP48 20amp yellow fuse was burned out!! lucky me, went to o'reilly and got a replacement for $4.11 well (2) in a pack that was the cheapest pack they had. These fancy Fuses will light up if they burn out next time.

Anyway mine was a quick fix, but I want to put it out there for people that may come across this same issue.

Check the fuses.

Some guys here we suggested checking the fuses: M31 & M49, either way check all the 20amps and make sure they aren't burned out. Mine was M48.

Good luck!

Default 2009 dodge ram 1500 12vdc power outlet

I have a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. The 12vdc outlet will not work. The one with the battery symbol. Is there a fuse for this or do I need to replace the unit?
