yes another audio thread...
ok guys and gals before you flame me for another audio thread, i am ignorant when it comes to choosing subs and amps.
what is a good entry level sub and amp combo that i can add to the factory REN? i am not looking to spend more than around $300 for sub and amp. i already found a box for the sub. i want to put one 10" sub in my crew cab. i dont want to give up both underseat storage areas so that is my reason to go with one 10". thanks in advance,

thanks for the reply 72combo but i have already been there. all the tech stuff is greek to me lol. what wattage subs and amps should i be looking at? what kind of amp do i need? what does 4-ohm and 2-ohm mean as far as sound? stuff like that.
Ah, my language.
IMO, never, ever, ever buy an "entry level" anything when it comes to audio. You will ALWAYS regret your choices later on down the road.
Now, there is two ways of doing this. The first is the way you said you want to do it, and then there is another one that allows for growth later on. I have been in the car audio game for quite awhile, and going by your price range, and my nit picking, this is what I would recomend to you for your said specifications:
Woofer- http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1081062...owAll=N&tp=111
Amplifier- http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KSA4....html?tp=35757
Now, there is another option, and I think you'll like this one better. When you add in that woofer, you will effectively drown out those rear speakers. We don't want that now do we? As I said before, this option will get you thumping hard and should you want more decibels later on down the road, you will be covered. With you just wanting to do one woofer, you can buy a four channel amp which is designed to power four speakers. Groovy. Most newer four channel amps are now coming equipped with a "three channel" mode which allows you to power that woofer, AND hook those rear speakers up to give them a little extra boost. Savvy?
Now, you get some time on your system and you start thinking," Man, I want more tunage!" then you are basically covered. When that time comes, if you haven't blown anything up, you will have a pretty good four channel amp ready to power all four of your door speakers, so all you would have to buy is a two channel amp to cover the woofer and the new speakers for the doors.
So, if we go this route, I would still suggest the same Infinity woofer, but I would make a change to the amp choice to this: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_108R475...ures_and_specs
I know that it might look a little hefty in price, but I assure you that you'll be happier down the road. If you plan on installing this on your own, let me know and I'll fab up a wire diagram to help you along the way. Intial installation is actually pretty easy as long as you don't mind pulling some of your cabin apart. I highly recomend that if you install yourself that you go to your nearest/best audio shop and flip them $10.00 to have them tune in the amp and get your settings in the right spot. You'll be much more happier in the long run and you wont have to worry about an incorrect setting torching your system.
In case you were wondering, I run the following:
4 Infinity Kappa Perfect 6X9's- Two in the door and two under the seats
2 Infinity Kappa 6 1/2"- Rear wall/door
2 Eclipse 500W Woofers- Behind the seat
1 Eclipse 800W 4channel amp- Powers the 4 6x9's
1 Kenwood 1000W 2channel amp- Powers the woofers
1 Alpine 600w 2 channel amp- Powers the 6 1/2"
Yea, that's 2,900 watts of tunes all in an RC truck.
Any more questions, just let us know.

Actually, when I said I would make a diagram, I meant actual wiring between the amp and the subs as bridging can get a little "weird" in terms of what wire goes where.
If you plan on adding an amp while using the factory head unit, then I suggest using these: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_142SLC4...onverter&ssi=0
Basically, all this does is convert the copper line to an RCA port allowing you to use the factory wiring harness to feed input to the amp.

..I see, will this line output converter affect on audio quality? All aftermarket head units have pre amp output and this signal is clearer. Guess I have no choice.

Those converters will affect quality a little bit, but not a whole lot. Noticable on high power systems, but on lower ones 1000W and less, I don't think you'll see much difference.
*Most AM decks have pre outs, but there are a few on the market that DO NOT. Just have to be careful of what you get your hands on.

Laramie1997 - If I have the "upgraded" Alpine system, what would you recommend for a decent upgrade without having to swap the head unit and whatnot? Thinking about just swapping subs for a JL stealthbox + amp, but unsure of the wiring and everything I've never done a partial system only full on my old truck. Considering I have the navigation and hard drive and everything I'd like to keep that as I already added music to the hard drive. I just don't know how viable it'd be to keep the head unit and swap out all or some of the speakers. I have a 2010 Quad Cab Laramie.
