Default 4x4 problem....

I have a 07 Ram 1500, it has the 2wd, auto, 4h, 4lo ****. The problem is if i turn it to 2wd, on the dash it says I'm in 4x4. If I turn it to auto, the dash reads auto, and reads 4x4 when the **** is turned to 4x4. But no matter where the **** is turned to, 2wd, auto or 4x4, I only have 2wd.
Has anybody had this problem, or know what the problem could be?
Thanks

Have never seen that before, with my 3rd Gen or 4th Gen. I say take it to the dealer. If it indicates 4x4 on the dash but your definetly only in 2wd then theres gotta be a problem there.

I have read something somewhere about 4auto being a problem with the 3rd Gens and causing problems with the 4wd shifting mechanism but I thought I had read Chrysler fixed that.

Maybe someone else can be of more help, for now I say get it to the dealer...
