Default Taking it Back !!

Taking the truck back to the dealer tomorrow. Has anyone had problems with small rust spots showing up all over the paint ? Salesman said it is from the brake pads. What should I expect from the body shop ? For anyone who has had experience with this problem or knows what has been done to rectify this situation I would like to know what has been done to fix it. TIA

Did you try washing it off? Not too uncommon for metallic and semi metallic brakepads to throw off bits that rust on wheels and paint.

Go to a auto parts store and ask for a clay bar and showroom shine.

No but I did notice spots of rust on the rear section of my frame right above the dual exhaust just above the resonators, it looks like some kind of mounting point. I'm going to bring it to the dealer tomorrow and see what they have to say. I hope we don't have a Toyota frame problem coming up. Anybody else having this issue?

My guess is you have a white or light colored truck? Small specks all over the truck? Then it would be rail dust. Small bits of hot metal from the train tracks/brakes while in transit. A good run over with a Clay bar will fix it right up.

I've complained about this same thing. I've clay bared it 3 times. The dealer has once. They keep coming back. The dealer swears it's rail dust. I would think after 4 clay bar attempts it should be gone. We know it's not from the brakes because it's all over the truck even on the roof, tailgate, bed, etc. I made a call to Chrysler, and they documented it. The dealer said they can wet sand the truck, but I am leary of doing that right now.

Washing it does nothing to get rid of the small flakes of rust. Yes it is a light colored truck, two tone silver to be exact. I think the salesman also said something about rail car dust. Does this mean I will have to clay bar it all of the time? Why also does it not show up on the darker colors?

My 08 white Avenger has it too but didn't when we picked it up. It is all over the roof but you have to look close to see it and it washes off with some elbow grease each time. I think it's sap or something that looks like rust.
I cant see my frame for all the oil all over it. Don't expect it to rust.

Dealer said that for them to take it off the 3/36 warranty only covers them doing it once. They will wash it,then wash it again with some special rinse that it supposed to take it all off of the clear coat and then rinse that off...no clay bar. Body shop guy said that I should then apply some good wax to seal it then. What everyone has heard about rail car dust is simply brake dust from the vehicle's brake pads getting airborne and settling into the clear coat. He also said it is showing up mostly on the lighter colors of vehicles but that you can find it on the darker colors also if you look hard enough.

I feel that either the brake pads they are using are inferior or that they are using a bad clear coat on it. IDK I also feel that as long as it is under warranty it should be fixed more than once or even better fixed right the first time. Obliviously Dodge knows there is a problem concerning this issue and this is there fix. All that I can say is Bulls**t. I plan on calling Dodge about this but doubt if it will do any good. What do you guys think?
