anyhow.....the truck is fine especially at its rated weight. if the 3.55 is now rated to over 8k and you are pulling 20% of that you should expect good performance especially with the correct set up on the hitch.
I have 3:92's as well so I am thinking I will be G2G. I am thinking about 500 Lbs in dirt bikes, 300 Lbs in gear / tools, About 850Lbs in passengers including myself, and a 4500Lb boat. I'll definitely post up my results when I get back.

This is an excellent thread
yes, I am also told that we will always want bigger. In my experience, I've never regretted getting bigger (even when I always lean towards smaller). I'll shop around and get the best trailer that will meet our needs. I'm just nervous about pulling this.
Also, we are not real campers, just want to use it in RV parks and such, so no plan on hauling water and too much extra weight

I just bought a 2010 CC SLT Sport w the Class IV hitch and 3.92 gear and was thinking about using my buddy's 32' Haulmark race trailer. He says its 5000 pounds unloaded w 500 tongue wt. I didnt think that I could tow it with it being so long, but this thread has me wondering. Would it be possible and what would I need to do from factory stock to get it to a point where I was ready to safely tow it (air bags, weight distributing hitch, sway bars etc.)?

This one has 2 queen beds - one up front over the hitch that you should be able to scoot up into very easily. (there aren't too many 5th wheel models so short or light.)
Thanks appreciate the info. I have been looking at several my mind is spinning it looks like due to finances we will wait. Since the Canadian dollar is worth more than the US on most days now our gov seems to think its a good time to raise interest rates and introduce a new 15 percent tax on some things so I might buy one in the US and leave it there. Just find a storage lot close by get a nice cover...it would be in my driveway anyway not like I have a place to put it inside. I will wait and see what the interest rates do. Most likely next year, who knows.

i am not a camper, just wanted a rolling hotel! my wife talked me into it so we bought the truck and trailer, biggest draw was the trucks lifetime warranty then I found a trailer to fit our needs. as for length I feel no sway at all and I was worried about driving with it. Since I have no prior experience I cant say the Reese system keeps it in line but the trailer is almost not there...

Any weight distributing system preloads all of joints in the hitch setup and reduces noise when towing. The clunking is a natural function of any hitch setup. You could have a look at the adjustment of the hitch on the trailer as they are too loose sometimes.

Since the "rolling hotel" that you describe is a substantial trailer, that "the trailer is almost not there" is a significant testiment that your Reese system hitch is doing it's job quite well.

The Ram is certainly a good vehicle but nowhere in the realm of new diesel technology as far as towing goes.

I plan to further test mine in a couple weeks with two dirtbikes in the bed and my 4500LB boat on - should do pretty well.
You're not comparing apples to apples. Dodge makes a truck that comes with a diesel option - 2500 with the Cummins. That would be apples to apples.
