Looks similiar to the Bak system - in that you need to be running the special side rails.

I'm starting to think that the best solution is to build some inserts for the stake pockets and bend some 1.5" x.120 tubing to make what I want. I'd prefer to use aluminum so that I don't have to get anything powder coated except that I don't have a spool gun.

The side rails and boat rack come in the box with the cover. All you have to buy are the cradles for your kayak. Any cargo rack accessories designed for a t-slot will work with this one...mine are from Yakima.

The problem with a rack that is centered over the box is that the kayaks hang over the back of the truck a lot. That makes pulling a travel trailer dicey when you have a long(18') kayak. The rack should extend over the cab somewhat to allow the kayaks to sit more forward.

My kayaks are whitewater kayaks not those big long lake things, so short is fine. Saw exactly what I want on a contractors truck today, just need to find out if they make one for a 5ft 7" ram.

Appears that they do not make this rack for the crewcab, however since they sell the hoops and rails seperately I may be able to just buy the hoops and build the rest.
