Question What's squeaking?

With all this nice weather recently I have been riding around with the windows open, and have noticed my truck makes a squeaking noise. It is driving me crazy. Its not all the time, but every single bump, big or small, that I hit makes my truck squeak. I have not been able to find where its coming from, although it is definitely outside. I have gone out while the truck is parked and shook it and rocked the truck on each corner and do not hear any squeaking. However when I hit the road, every time I hit a bump it squeaks. I have also tried lubing all the moving parts on the suspension with no luck. Does anyone have any idea where this might be coming from?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Ryan

Funny my truck was doing the same thing yesterday. It would also do it when I made a hard stop. For me it turned out to be the spacer in the rear for my leveling kit. I sprayed it where the spring and spacer came together with some wd40 and its all gone now.

Could be your tonneau cover. I had an Undercover on my last truck and it squeaked like an old wooden ship!

For what it's worth, I had a squeak that would occur at every bump, but I could not make it happen by bouncing up and down on the bumper. Turned out to be the hard rubber hood spacers threaded on the radiator support. I lowered them down just a bit and applied some silicon lubricant, problem solved.

i've got this too. it doesn't happen all the time, mine seems to occur during times of extremely high humidity, either right before or after a rainstorm. it's not loud but it's loud enough to drive you nuts. it sounds like a small finch with alot to say is trapped under the hood.
they actually replaced the stabilizer bar bushings (2) during a routine visit to the dealer (part # 68067545AA). this was obviously not the problem since it did not improve the symptoms. i'm just glad i was there while it was squeaking.

Thanks for the answers. I am definitely going to start by spraying the hell out of my spacers in the rear for my leveling kit when I get home tonight. I will also take a look at the tonneau cover, although I have a bakflip. I will let yous guys know if either take care of the squeak.

I have taken it to the dealer once and they "could not duplicate" it, but it was a rainy day so I understand. I just want to see if I can fix it before I go through the dealer hassle again..

Mine is clunking, popping and the rubber bushings are squeaking. 1st year typical. The rear end has a good clunk when shifting into gear from a static state (neutral) as well. 1st year typical stuff. It will take them a few years to work all the bugs out. I will take it in when I get some time. When it was cold coming out of the parking lot at work...I can hit the brakes and can hear a metallic sound. Who knows.......looking for MOOG front end suspension parts to rip out the typical cheap OEM krap. And guess what...NADA! Just like shocks. I will have to have HAL build me a set of QA1's. It is extremely frustrating the lack of good quality aftermarket parts for this truck..........

A start would be to buy some bushing grease or use special Lubriplate. I worked at Senco years ago repairing air tools for the construction and manufacturing trades. Lubriplate had a grease that would not attack rubber. Spray rubber with WD40 and over time the rubber will break down. You need grease without petroleum by products if you can find it. This is the only grease to use that will not attack rubber. My .02.

EDIT...BILSTEIN is listing 2WD shocks but not yet available.
