Exclamation Tire Pressure Sensor Price?!

The other day i went out to the shop to check my tire pressures on my truck since now its warming up.. most of my tires were at 40 psi so i brought them down to 35 psi. Once i got to the last tire i went to turn it and it was a little tight. I have the Chrome Clad rims the come with the Dodge Sport and they put steel caps on all my tires that have hexagonal heads on them and a green center. Anyways i went and got my 3/8 wrench to loosen the cap and the cap was seized to the stem and broke off. I took it down to the tire store (mean while i forgot that I had the TPS (tire pressure system) system in my truck cuz i was mad i broke my valve stem) and went to get a new stem put on. The tire store said that the valve was gonna be 100 - 200 bucks. I personally think there full of **** and I am consider taking it to the dealer and asking for warranty.

Anybody had to replace there TPS? And if so how much was the Sensor?

x3 on warranty. They stopped using the metal caps from the factory because of the problem you had.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Yeah i think I'm gonna tell the guys at the tire shop tomorrow not to worry about ordering it and I'll take it to the dealership and ask for warranty.

Even if they don't warranty it, the replacement piece you need is just a new valve stem... I think they are pretty cheap, even from a dealership. I ruined the actual sensor dismounting my tires and it was $25 for the sensor... The prices on these parts is actually not that bad. You don't need the sensor, just a new valve stem.

interpretation: i don't want to take up a bay for someone i can make $10-15 and who will not need tires for a few years.

Well don't they have to put in the code for the sensor to tell the ecm that it is there and the ecm is able to read the new sensor? Cuz if you were to take that old sensor out i would think it would cause your TPMS light to come on.

I think maybe the shop was buying a set of four. Could be that is the way they are supplied to them. Dealer is the best place that way you can get just one as needed. I have seen them on Ebay for our truck for 125 or all four
