Resonators
i did a muffler swap on my 1500 and got the flowmaster 40series, video is on you tube. My question is, will taking the resonators off make that much of a sound difference? Has anyone had them on, then cut them off? The louder the better in my mind, but i dont want to get my pipes chopped on if its not noticeable.
I had the resonators on for awhile with a Mufflex/Magnaflow 14, then took them off. It didn't seem to make it any louder than it was, but it did help to get rid of some of the highway exhaust drone. Since then I've replaced the Mufflex with a Flowmaster Super 40 (no idea what the difference is between a Super 40 and a non-Super 40).
Overall I'd say it's worth it just to eliminate some of that drone. As you know it's not bad, but the less drone the better.

Dakota, how much will you payfor them? my truck has 1500 miles on it so my resonators are still perfect. Let me know, if the price is right, I'll chop them off and ship them to you next week!
I believe with the Magnaflow it is a different story than with most other mufflers because the Magnaflow had sound absorbing packing where Flowmaster and the at3030 do not. I will tell you right now with my at3030 it made a substancial difference in highway drone when I removed the resonators. It sounds great upon acceleration with no resonators but the drone is signinficantly louder, I would call it annoying. And I love loud exhaust, something to keep in mind. If I could put the resonators back on I would, the biggest difference is it drones way more, the acceleraton sound levels are almost identical with or without the resonators.
