Default Top speed Question?

Mainly for the guys with the chips. Have you guys tried to take the truck to the max? I know some people do not have country roads like I do to try this on, but was just curious. I am on my way to order one from superchips, but in the mean time I am just going to have to wait and to see if anyone else has tried to top the truck out. I have this bmw next door that has me by 5mph

I've heard of stockish 3rd gen guys with a chip and high speed rated tires going over 130. Stock tires are only rated to 112. Drive faster than that and your rolling on grenades. I bet the 4th gens with better areodynamics and hp could hit 140. Wouldn't mind trying it out. I would just need a roll cage, tires and a closed road coarse. Lol

The truck has a 5 star roll over rating.

Definitely pay attention to tire speed ratings. At that speed with a truck this heavy, a blow out would be definite disaster.

The Hemi is actually a top-end kind of engine so with the right gearing you should be able to hit 135mph+

Wind resistance doubles with each 10mph over 65mph, and the 500HP SRT-10 does about 150. The Hemi's have nearly 400hp so they should be pretty up there.

I will report back as I live in Northern Germany and can go as fast as I like when I get on the Freeway/AutoBahn/Motorway. I have placed an order and should receive delivery around the first week of July (can't wait!)

As posted above. Don't overdrive your tires, and I do believe the poster is correct that the truck compter will limit you to around 110 mph(=+).

I found out the hard way that it hits about 105 and goes flat. Just when I was smoking a Chevy!A reflash is in my future.

FYI tire ratings are not designed on the line. If that were the case the dragstrips would have blowouts daily. I have had blowouts at 120 MPH and disintegrated the tire, the key is to drive straight and not overreact.

The new cars are much better at handling a tire failure than back in the day..

Yep happy with the tyre bit but I am paying $3000 to have it converted to European standards, I've been told the engine management is re-programed and a load of **** things like putting indicators above the wheel arches etc. So I would assume that if the engine management is re-programed that the limiter would be taken off?

The truck leaps enough at 80 if you hit a dip. I'd want an airport runway before I considered over 100 mph

Take the handcuffs off, done 108 as the truck is bucking and going flat, you all are worrying to much, there is a safety factor built into everything nowadays, especially tires. Do it on a modern highway if thats your joy with no one around, so you don't put anyone in danger on a flat deserted road, here we have 8 lane roads and at times with no one on it, and yeah it kicks at 104 105 but have been able here and there to get it above with momentum.
