I got disappointed in Toyota in 2002/2003.Friend bought his wife a HIGHLANDER.At around 7k on the speedo it started smoking on start up.Engine was SLUDGGED so bad you could not see the rocker arms.He HAD oil change receipts(2 or 3) and he was told several times by Toyota and Toyota reps it was HIS fault or the Quickie lube shops. poor quality oil.It was poor quality allright but NOT the oils.He traded it in at another Toyota dealer miles away from his home on a Toyota truck, took a bath doing such.Later its announced those engines were KNOWN sludge monsters.Cost my friend a lot of time, hassle and thousands of dollars due do a design fault of Toyota.PLUS the v6 4 door truck he got his wife used oil and got terrible fuel mileage. He traded it on a Dodge with Cummins/auto/2wd/4 door/ bright red with all the bells and whistles. It wasn't that much more money and he claims was a real HOSS compared to the Toyota,Better mileage, drove better etc.His wife put 200k trouble free miles on that truck and it still sold for good money. That Highlander and then the V6 truck after that left a bad taste in his mouth to this day.
