Not Happy with Dodge
The HEmi tick I bet is those manifold bolts they are replacing, and I get seamless MDS operation, I watched the tac to see when it is coming on since I don't have the light and well no sound just the revs go up a bit. So if you have roughness and you can tell when it's switching I would say take it in.[/QUOTE]
Funny you say that. Just had mine in for service and the tick has seemed to disappear after the manfold bolts were changed out. Hmmmmm..
Let's not badger this guy too much. I'm sure he knows he made a mistake. It's sucks, but that is life and it happens.
Can always change gears later. May have to save more.
FWIW: My dealer told me about the gears in mine after I looked at the sticker and knew that I had the Tow Package and wanted at least 3.92's

I feel for ya man, it took about 2 years of a salesman friend of mine beating on the GM who orders the trucks to start ordering them with 3.92s and limited slip. Most people have no clue about mechanical stuff and the trucks have enough power to pull any of the gears, unloaded.
Loaded though, thats a different story, I couldn't even imagine the 3.21s with this auto tranny, it must be able to run to about 50 or 55mph in first gear at redline!

Towed my boat from MN to lake of the ozarks with no issues, kids car from MN to MT, and my jeep all over the place. Only reason to go with the 3.92's is if you need to pull heavy or like playing boy racer on the street
It hits 55mph in first.
It's just called "you live and learn".
Now you know to look at gear ratios next time. My bet is the salesman wouldn't know a ring and pinion from a microwave oven. If the gear ratio was plainly listed on the window sticker AND you never questioned that ratio before buying, well then you learned the hard way.
I HATE stearlerships with a passion, 99% will tell you whatever you want to hear to make a sale, but in your case, I can hardly fault the dealer or sales staff.
If you have a 4x2 and don't like the gears, there are plenty of aftermarket options available for your 9.25" Chrysler Corporate rear end. 3.55 thru 4.88s by any number of quality manufacturers. Gears would cost you about $225, and install kit about another hundred and a good shop that is experienced with setting gears will run you in the $300-400 range for the labor. If you have a 4x4 then about $1200 is the going rate for everything.
If your gearing hinders you, like my stock 3.92s did me when I stepped up to 35" tires, then re-gear. $600-700 or even $1200 for a 4x4 ain't the end of the world to get EXACTLY what you want. I just sold my original front AND rear gears with 19k on them for $150 to a guy with a 4x2, I wouldn't break up the set and he still came out WAY ahead. Might be you can find a good set of 3.55s or 3.92s from someone who stepped up to 4.10s or 4.56s for dirt cheap...

I think the point is made by now.....Not just a learning lesson to him but for all in the future.
Hammer is right, you can fix it....and to boot.....when you do it yourself doesn't the truck become more yours? I think everyone enjoys their vehicles even more when they change it up a bit.

i also think most salesmen are driving small used cars and dont know what a gear ratio is other then a number on the window sticker. im glad you like the truck otherwise. i never thought i would love a car/truck so much. i park at the back of the lot now
