certainly good news / bad news here. lost money technically speaking, but made money w/o the loan repayments.
the Headlines that GM will repay the govt in whole is a little deceiving. they are using escrow money set up last summer to repay the loans and the u.s. government's equity stake will not be relinquished.

Dodge's success should be directly related to the "Truck of the Year"...and should be applauded/thanked by those who matter..the truck owners. Does anyone REALLY care who got money and who owns a company? If the Government actually owned a company that made cars and those cars were the absolute best of everything...you would buy it right?
Anyway, this whole "Ford didn't, GM and Chrysler Did but GM paid it back" is all drama. Thousands of businesses borrow money or get grants everyday from Government entities and nobody says a thing....still "tax payers" money! So when a large company that helps drive the economy to millions/billions of dollars is hit by a recession and needs some help INSTEAD of folding they get dogged? I consider it economic strategy and predictive restructuring, not bailout! How much "bailout" money is handed to all the homeowners now who are getting mortgage restructuring and first time buyer help?? How many other "Tax" credits were made to BAILOUT the majority of America?
Just my venting..
