Lift Question
Talked to a Chrysler tech today in reference to a lift for my truck and he said, "to maintain your warranty 100% it would need to be installed by a Chrysler certified technician @ a Chrysler dealer with Mopar parts. Also to maintain your powertrain warranty you would not be able to lift the vehicle more than 4" due to pinion angles that would be affected if you went with a larger lift."
Anyone have any feedback on what he said?
He also said that he could not calibrate my speedometer for the 37 inch tires and that I would have to buy an aftermarket programmer to do that, but don't programmers void your engine warranty anyways? Is there anyway that the calibration can be done without an aftermarket programmer?
I figure if I have to calibrate it with a programmer I might as well get the 6-inch Superlift done and say screw the warranty. Any recommendations for a programmer on a 2010 Ram 1500 Quad Cab Sport 4X4 5.7?
Thanks.

i talked to my Dodge guy at the dealer i go to, he said if you are going to lift it, just mae sure to get it done somewhere that does alot of them and you shouldnt have anything to worry about as far as something going wrong. i have a BDS on mine and BDS warranties their stuff for lifetime. i am also running 37's and have a programmer on mine to adjust the tire size as well as other things. ou should be able to do the programming, then take it back to stock before you take it in to the dealer for anything. they will never know it was on there.
Strange they'd say that... I've installed kits before FOR dealerships. There have been trucks on dealership lots around here with 37's and 38's on them. I know of several other shops that install lift kits for dealers... it is a packaged deal with lift, tires / wheels, installation, and other accessories. The ones around here love lifted trucks on their lot, because it brings people in and gets them talking.
If you have a dealer that won't take care you of, then you shouldn't have bought a truck from them. I'm sure they would be leary if you installed it yourself, but if you had any reputable shop install the kit you should be fine. My sales person goes, 'I saved you a couple hundred dollars with the steel wheels, because you are just going to change them out when you lift it anway.' So some places are fine with them, and some aren't... just find a good one and you are set.
A Mopar kit is a rebadged Superlift kit. I don't see how they can say it is that superior of a product when it is the same thing?

i had a 2007 dodge ram 3500 dually, with 6'' suspension w/ 37's .... i went into a dealership for some work..
the tech told me this after asking him about lifts voiding warranty ..
''if lifts voided warranties, you wouldn't see $40k trucks driving up and down the highway all day long''
it made perfect sense to me, they warrantied the work, and i was off on my way
