Default 09 Dodge RAM Hemi v. 07 Mercedes E550 4matic

I ran my 09 RAM Hemi against my 07 Mercedes E550 (382hp 391ft-lbs) in a quarter mile drag last night. Not really a fair apples to apples race but I wanted to do it anyway. The local club had the track open in preparation for this weekend’s drag races so off we went. I drove the RAM and the wife in the car. After a brief safety meeting we lined them up. When tree hit green I nailed the hemi, got a good hole shot on the MB and after that….. all I saw was tail lights. My wife literally blew my doors off, it wasn’t even close. I expected to get beat but not by that much and I thought I would have some advantage do to my wife’s inexperience drag racing.

The results:

Dodge RAM Hemi - 15.9 seconds @ 86.5 mph
Mercedes - 13.8 seconds @ 101.9 mph

THE END
Bill

Thos cars are pretty strong, BUT ,yours could have been better, unless you have the 3:21 rear, most of the 4x4 's here will fly ,I am sure they will chime in soon, but your truck should have done better, mine is the lowly 3:21's and I ran 14.8/14.9 my first time at our track, there are tricks to doing better in those, but still the Merced, will be strong and very hard to beat, if at all.

I think they are either 3:92's or 3:55"s, either way you will have to eat crow, nice that you can have fun like that.

It was a foregone conclusion that a 5-litre V8 E-Class was going to plow your a$$. Power-to-weight alone would bury you.

That said, all you had to do (as they are both your vehicles) was put the wife in the truck and take the Merc yourself. No crow necessary

Well lets think...the 07 E550 weight (wet) is 3885. The Ram CC Laramie is 6800 lbs (wet) Theres only an 8 HP difference with 3000 lbs weight difference. Hook up a 10,000 pound trailer to the Benz and Ram and do it again then report back. By the way your wife did a pretty good job as the guys at Road and Track ran a 13.5 in the quarter and she ran a 13.8! Sounds like you may need to hit the track a little more often to match her reaction time. Hows that crow tastin anyway? Just messin with ya.

Any vehicle that runs in the 13's is a pretty fast street car. It would take another 200 horses to get the truck to do that.
