Default Fit and Finish

While driving down to Florida I noticed the hood lifting on the drivers side at highway speed. After investigating, I noticed that the gap between the fenders and the hood were not equal, the hood was not snug on the drivers side as well. I brought it to the dealer, 3 days later the shock and hinge have been replaced but the alignment could not be corrected by the mechanic. The service advisor noticed that the fender had to be adjusted, so off it goes to the body shop.
When I received the truck when new, I had to return it immediately because the rubber rail that covers the roof seams was wavy and the clear protective tape on the bumper edges were creased. I think the **** who worked on my truck at the factory in the finish dept. should be made accountable for his or her shoddy work ethic. The future of this company depends on the quality of the product and shoemakers like this dont help.

Mine does that on the highway, too. I was kinda thinking no big deal, but could the hood be blown open by strong wind?

Thats only part of it. Check the door fit. None of them are flat or even down the side of the truck. The back edges stick out. Then again, its not a mercedes.

In regards to the hood, try increasing the height of the adjustable plastic bump stops. Turn them a few notches counterclockwise and it should make the hood fit more snuggly, especially if the hood is sitting lower than the fender. That's how they adjust the hood at the plant. As far as holding them accountable, good luck with the UAW...

i was told the reason why the back edges of the doors stick out a little bit is for airflow. Creating less drag, and it kinda makes sense, when you look at the little 'circle' of air in the gaps...

The hood should no play, check new trucks at the dealer, lift the corners, they should be very snug. If you have play have the dealer fix it.

Thanks. I'll have a closer look at it.
