Default Truck hieght after towing

Okay I have a question for those that tow a lot. I back into my garage and use a tennis ball hanging from a string to know when I am far enough in the garage for the door to close. This weekend I pulled a trailer with 1 yard of decomposed granite and later with 1.5 yards on my second run. The tailer with gravel was on the truck for about 5 hours as I unloaded it into the flower beds. After taking the trailer back to my friends house and parking back in the garage I noticed that the tennis ball, that use to hang just low enough that I could see the whole ball in rear window, now only shows a very small part of the bottom of the ball. Now a full day later and the ball is still high on the rear window. Does the suspension take a permenant compression on the first real load? I am talking about 2 inches or the size of a tennis ball. The ball has been hanging there since last week of Feb, so I am very use to the hieght and it is not as low on the window as it use to be.

2 inches is quite a bit....was the truck almost bottomed out with the load. I suppose its possible if the truck was sitting on its bumpstops for 5 hours.

Truck was not bottomed out from the load, it was sitting with the front wheels in the street and back on the driveway (about a 12 inch difference, we have step up curbs). The weight was mainly on trailer tires, but you did have the tongue weight, but I agree 2 inches seems like a lot. From the back you can see the window overlaps the frame and you can not see out of the very top part. That is where the ball hangs now, before it was right below that.

The tennis ball has not moved since Saturday, so the truck is still sitting lower. Anyone know what the ground to bottom of truck should be? I can measure and see what is going on.

I just measured my truck from the ground to the bottom of the hitch (the very bottom of the square hole). Mine measures about 19 and a quarter inches. I have the hitch that came with the truck...I assume you do as well.

Out of curiosity, I measured ground to bottom of OEM receiver hitch on my '09 CC TRX with 17" wheels and 265/70/17 tires.....

Exactly 17"

Okay sorry guys, have been slammed at work. So I measured and was sitting between 19 and 20 inches from ground to bottom of hitch, do not remember the exact. The tennis ball if visible now, not the whole ball, but I guess my memory must be bad as it seems I am sitting at normal. So the truck did come back up some but it must not have been as high originally as I thought. Thanks for the replies and patients with my delayed response.
